my windshield cracked!

hey has anyone else had their windshield crack?
mine just did, and the crack just kept growing because of vibration.
now i am screwed cause inspection is due this month and it has to be fixed beforeit passes. my deductible is to high to make a claim on it, and the glass people are quoting me $365 installed.
is that a good price? any recommendations?
warranty work?

Seems kinda high. My P5 was $220. A month later I was talking with my 7yr old and he tossed a rock over his shoulder and spider webbed it about 3" in diameter and it has stayed this way for the past year after a windshield repair dude did what he could to keep it from spreading.

I had Two Mazdas that the windshield cracked and not because of stones from the road.
Luckily in Florida they have to fix your windshield (insurance) and no deductable, state law.

depends on state laws but i am pretty sure if its a crack its gotta be fixed i know a small hole is okay if it fit inside a nickel or a quarter or something in my wack ass state.... but no to cracks

I'm on windshield #3... the first 2 were replaced courtesy of Mazda.. stress cracks ftl.

they are a biatch, but you ahve to do them...

Hey Lisa how did you manage that?
i ask because i thought that it was a stress crack and not a chip crack, but i have no way to prove it.
The reason i thought it was not a chip crack is because it didnt start from a chip:
i was driving on the highway and it was a weird day because no matter what you did, the windshield was fogging up. So i had the AC blasting freezing cold and then all the sudden i hear *crack* and i am looking around my windshield to see where the chip is and i cant see anything and there was nobody in front of me so i wasnt sure where the chip came from or whatever.
So a day or so after i see that there is a crack on my windshield, the crack had started small at the base of the windshield and then spread with the vibration. How do i prove to Mazda that this was their fault? i just rolled over 40k (if it matters).

well.. when i took mine to the dealership about it.. they pulled out a pen and traced the whole crack.. if they can feel like a hole or something, then they know something it hit.. He was really sitting on the fence about mine. He said he "thinks he felt something like a hole where it was hit." Even brought another service guy out to feel it... I was like, come on man, I baby this car. Eventually I persuaded him to do it for me. And not long after the new one was in, it cracked again. That one they did without any questions asked.

wonder if they just gave you a second rate widnshield the first time, so when you came back with the crack they just knew it.
but thats interesting, i should do that i may luck out and save myself a few dollars.
no i just hope that the crack has not expanded into one of the multiple small chips i had. cause then i would have to explain that it started on the base and not from that chip.

yeah i am gonna do that this afternoon, if i dont feel the the hit then im taking it to the stealership.

oh i am going to be psyched if it is a stress crack. Now they replce the glass because its part of warranty? or what? cause if my warranty is up then i would be SOL.

it will depend a lot on the guy at the dealerships mood.. tell him about how you baby the car and such..
you have an 04 3 right? if they deem it "stress crack" then it will be replaced free of charge... is you car is under warranty still?

so.. another route, call your insurance and see if perhaps they will cover it.. sometimes they will...

yeah, if i am not mistaked. warranty is 40k miles (or is it 50K? anyone knows?)
hmm we'll see if they believe me.... these guys are assholes too which is why i never take my car to the dealer.
the insurance way is a no go since my deductible is 500 and the windshield is lower, the glass company wont bill the insurance.
