My turn...LSD took a big crap.

I should be able to take the tranny apart with it attached to the engine right? Just enough to replace that part. It seems like that would work.

Surprisingly the sqeeking almost stopped after I dumped like a tablespoon full of oil out of the tranny. I think I overfilled it?? The shifting is very notchy now as oppose to when the tranny was a little underfilled.

Thanks!

1.YES
2. If you welded it, it was probably welded incorrectly, or you need to check the shift fork and rubber boot.

i just got my car back yesterday from PC....it has been stuck there for one month because the fucktards welded my limited slip rather than replacing it with a new one. I had the same issues with my shifter too, supposively they installed a rubber boot on incorrectly, it pinched it causing it to not flow smoothly

Well the shift boot is OK. It's only rough into 2nd gear...first sometimes as well. I now have a strange noise, LSD like, when I'm taking off in reverse sometimes. Also, I heard it once or twice taking off forward.

Sucks.

me to....i have that same noise??? but i do not have any trouble with engaging gears? i dunno what that could be?

Interesting...we should be able to figure this out...I just need some time before I tare the tranny apart.

When the LSD engages you will get some noise from it... so under heavy loads expect a little noise.. but nothing otherwise... Reverse makes a lot noise all the time though so dunno!

For some reason the car is running like crap under heavy loads. It bucks and hesitates like it's running very rich. My gas mileage sucks too now. It feels like there's an exhaust leak before the primary O2 sensor, or a boost leak right at the intake mani between the head. I'm going to start with the intake mani, because I can see fuel stains right below the intake mani where it meets the head. I never used a gasket there, just RTV after I ported it. If that doesn't help, I'm going to replace the exhaust mani gasket...the car sounds different now after I took the turbo off the last time. I did torque all the mani bolts...so I'm not sure what the problem is. Does any1 know the thread for the exhaust mani bolts? I want to replace all of them for stronger bolts.

Thanks!

You think its the same bolt as the P5? I've got the shop manual here.

You going to the RR meet tonight? I'm going to try to go.

They should be the same... I'm not sure on the thread... if I had to wager a guess I'd say M8x1.25 or M8x1.5

They should be the same! Thanks for the help. I'll try to be there if it doesn't rain. You'll be quite surprised at how much is has expanded since the last time you were there!

LAter.

Nothing in the manual about the bolt specs. But the, upper range of the torque spec is 94 ftlbs, so I'd prolly put my money on the finer thread above. Hell, buy a set of both and take the others back.

Kewl thanx! SS should be a good material to use? Something I can get from home depot I think.

I can't believe they ask for that much torque! The lower subframe bolts require about as much hehe

for the exhaust mani I think that is inch-lbs... let me look it up.. I'm assuming you are looking for the bolts that go into the head correct?

I just rechecked it.. the flange bolts that go into the head are 14-16 ft-lbs... the bolts holding the heatshield onto the mani are 94.6 in-lb's.
