My turn...LSD took a big crap.

Found the source of the sqeek just now...it's the black end cap. If I press on it in about the center the sqeek stops. What could it be? I drained the tranny and took the cap off yesterday to take a look around so I know that's on tight. I noticed there's a "nipple" on the back side of the cap. Is that "nipple" suppose to move in any way?

On a side note, shifting is very notchy now...compared to when the tranny was a little low on fluid on sunday. This time I filled her up until she was oozing fluid out of the fill hole hehe. Could I have put too much fluid in her?

Later.

as long as it is level it shouldn't be an issue..

it sounds like you may have bent the feed tube in the center of that black cap.. if you push on it and it goes away that means that it is rubbing against the rotating shafts basically... so you need to bend that by hand to get it where it needs to be... just be careful. If you need pics I can try and find some but don't think I have any of that cap.

Are you sure the tube is installed properly?

I think it can only be installed one way no? I didn't move this tube or anything. Just took off the cap and put it back on.

Thanks.

I was very careful putting the cap back on. I know I didn't bump the tube into anything.

Maybe I should buy a new cap?

I'll take pics if you got some.

Thanks.

No need to buy a new tube.. it's just really easy to bend that tube when you take the cap off... I was overzealous with the deadblow and bent mine... what you can do it put the cap on and see if it has some float around in a circle relative to the holes for the screws... you need to make sure that that dump tube fits into the center of the shaft ok... and that is about the only way I know to do it... just see if you can find any rub marks on the cap or anything else at all..

Last time I drained it the fluid exploded out of the drain hole lol.

What worries me about this sqeek is that it wasn't there before I took the tranny off. After I put it back in the noise is there. I didn't touch the black cap until this past monday, after the tranny was in and sqeeking.

it takes fluid from the long black plastic piece and then feeds into one of the hollow gear shafts.. it is either for cooling or internal lubrication.

The plastic piece between the two gear shafts on top? IF so I noticed mine was way back in the case...sticking out about an inch at most. Unless it moves as the gears are shifted, I noticed yours was out of the case about 3 or so inches?

Yeah it has to be otu that far... maybe yours got broken! (I've broken two already in my tranny messing around). It has to be 3" because it hast o reach into the black cap... if you look inside the black cap you'll see a little trough... that black plastic piece dumps into that trough.

I just got done looking at roni's pictures in your how to thread and her's is sticking exactly how mine is. Is it something I can pull on and out?

Thanks!

I looked at them and can't find what you are talking about... I'm betting you both have a broken oil ramp.

s***. The shop that did my tranny must have broken it off then. I know I didn't see any left over pieces in there when I took the cap off! Unless it broke off when the LSD broke.

Figures... it's SOOO easy to break too... but it is important as it cools the shaft etc... but it's a 30 dollar part.. you can probably run without it.. but I can't gurantee there won't be some long term effects.

I should be able to take the tranny apart with it attached to the engine right? Just enough to replace that part. It seems like that would work.

Surprisingly the sqeeking almost stopped after I dumped like a tablespoon full of oil out of the tranny. I think I overfilled it?? The shifting is very notchy now as oppose to when the tranny was a little underfilled.

Thanks!

Tranny has to be dropped to take it apart.. it's an absolute b****... I'm not sure on why you are getting different behaviors based on how much fluid... that's really strange... it is possible you overfilled it... I go with 3 quarts or overflowing whichever comes first...
