My Turbo Project

well, I've drafted Kevin, Scott, and Korey to help with the install. It'll be 2 seperate installs. First will be the tranny stuff so I can break in the clutch w/o having to worry about boost. then I'll do the turbo install. But I need to send off some parts (intake manifold, exhaust manifold, s-pipe) to Extrude Hone before that.

I'm starting to wonder if i want to go with the stock MSP t25, then upgrade later on with an EMS. I'm just worried that having a bigger turbo will cause issues right now. I wanted to get the Microtech LT8, but it was just discontinued. The LT10 is $200 more. I'm also concerned with the fitment of the GT28R. Will it drop in directly? Or should I just spend the extra $200 and get the GT28RS.

decisions decision decisions

i'll post pics when all the bits are here.

Damn buddy, you've been going crazy with the purchasing!

As far as turbo goes, you could do what I plan on doing. I'm going to have the t25 go through the MPNick upgrade (which runs about $700) but includes work on the manifold, downpipe, and upgrading the turbo's insides.

I'm bummed to hear the LT8 is discontinued, as that was going to be my next purchase. Looks like I have a lot more saving to do :(

i've read a lot of good things about the MPINick upgrade, but it spools up too quick. i need something that spools a little slower to keep traction in first gear. I plan on running in SM at the autocrosses. I know I'll have r-comp tires, but I don't want to be roasting them at the line.

Too quick?! That's why I want it for autocrossing! We'll just have to learn throttle control, that's all. Oh and increase the tire budget... haha.

I don't know if I would use a T25 or not. On my msp with intake, no cats, and exhaust it spooled instantly and caused to tires to break loose when in first and second gear. A T28 may have slightly slower spool time, but when it hits full boost, I'm sure you'll have traction problems also. Maybe an ebc that can limit boost in the lower gears may be helpful. The Blitz sbc-id can only do this when paired to the power meter device. I think the Greddy e-01 can do this on it's own.

I'm not sure what sbc unit you're planning on getting. Blitz has the new version of the sbc-id which combines the ebc and power meter into one unit. It also has a pretty cool color display. It would make having a boost guage not necessary, since it shows current and peak boost on the display.

yeah, but that's like $600

look at this guy complaining about the price of things, in reality its a deal because of what it can do and what you wouldn't need to buy since it has it with it anyways. that's one less gauge which is good for you since you dont know where to put the gauges you are going to be running. think about it and we can think of some cool places to mount the screen.

i already have the boost gauge ordered from **********. I could probably still cancel the order on the boost gauge and keep the EGT and Oil Pressure gauge.

Know of anyone that has a good price on teh color?

I'll look around for you, I think 600 is about the going rate. It's not too much more than I paid for minea few years ago.

i found one for 699 shipped. I want to make sure i can cancel boost gauge order w/ ********** before i purchase the EBC.

i'm about to make some big purchases, and I'm leary: EMS and the right Turbo

look what showed up today!!
