My tires are dryrotted!

I only have 18,000 miles on my 02 P5 and the front tires are dryrotted and cracked. I wonder if these would be covered on any kind of warranty?

Tire manufacturer would be the right one to talk to. Next time try using some sort of tire dressup. Mcguires has a nice tire cleaner and dressup.

go directly to the manufacturer. i have been dealing with 'cupping' or 'siping' (depends on who you talk to) on my MSP (RE040's suck) dryrotting is warranty and should NOT be prorated. if they are bridgestone/firestone, go directly to a "firestone" store... goodyear, go to a "goodyear" store...
hope that helps. feel free to pm with q's

R.I.P. pmpkinhead's (dean's) SO MSP #1244. coming soon... LEMONHEAD

Thanks for the info. The tires are the stock Dunlop's that came with the car when new.

just to let you guys know... since i deal with this daily...

using tire shine actually makes your tires dry rot faster if you dont have it on constantly..
tire shine draws the oil OUT of the tire and rots it from the inside out...

and yes you need to go to a tire dealer..

discount tire would probably be your best bet. since they are the largest independent tire company...

they will take care of this problem for you...

from my experience .. dunlop will probably have you pay for the tread you have used...
which isnt much and is TONS better than shelling out money for new ones on your own...

discount will take care of you... and if they dont i will personally call the store and give them hell... i work at one of the most known discount tires b/c we were the 2nd store ever .. many people know me and my boss...

let me know how things go with this

Well, I went to a local Discount Tire today, the one I have bought several sets of wheels and tires from for other cars.

The kid basically told me it was normal wear and tear, and even accused me of "peeling out" in my car. It's a ******* automatic and won't spin the tires unless it's raining! I have done nothing to this car other than tint the windows as you can see in my sig.

They said there was nothing I could do. :( I will see if I can take pictures of the tires. It's only doing it in the front 2. There are definite cracks all over the tread.

The store was on Lafayette Road in Indianapolis, phone# 317-291-4311

take some pics of them and ill look at them...

ill take care of you...

some discounts dont care about customers but many do...

i go above and beyond to make my customers happy...

also if you can see the DOT numbers that would help me also...

it should be 3 sets of 4 numbers and letters...

if you can find the dot it would help me a great deal... i also need to see the tires to see if they were telling you the truth or if they were just jerking you around

Ok, I'll take pics soon and post them here. Thanks for your help. I'm not asking for free tires, just some kind of deal or something.

ill help you out with this...

we will get some sort of assistance from dunlop(goodyear)

ill get to the bottom of what they said to you too....

thats not good business sense...

I took some pictures, my car sits in my garage. They aren't the best with my old digital camera. The warping/cracking is doing it in the grooves in between the tread.

i cant see the tread or anything well with the 2nd pic...

is there any way you can get a more clear picture...

is it just on the edges that its rotting?

the warranty on goodyears dryrotting is 4 years and your tires were made in 2001 so if there is dryrotting then they will be covered...

i dont know if they will cover 100% though since you have 18k miles

I'll try in the daylight tomorrow. It's in the actual grooves where the treadwear indicator is.
