My Sparkco Wire Broke....Anyone Else???"UPDATE"

Today I was polishing my valve cover and was pulling on the rubber boot and the sparkco ignition wire just broke at the connection point from the plug to the actual wire. It broke inside of the wire!!!!! I've had these only two months!!!......anyone else have such a problem. I'd be careful....not that I wasn't...but be careful for those who have the Sparkco wires...I now question the quality of these things. I plan on sending the member on this site we all purchased these from a memo-email stating my displeasure, and hopfully will repalce the wire at no charge.....Peace!

My e-mails have been sent. I will follow up on the customer service with this problem. They diffinetly were awesome in dealing with during the purchase...so I just hope this problem will be fixed as well..Peace!

Well,...good question,.....because I had to put the OEM's on to drive immediately after it broke, so my wife, kid and I could go get something to eat. Honestly...the difference wasn't really noticeable........the engine "may" have been running a tid bit harsher.....but nothing drastic. Low end torque was the same...pretty much all the same......but I spent the damn money on these things..so i wish to repalce the thing!!..Peace!

just curious- does this company "sparKco" have ANY affiliation with "sparco"? if not, if sparCO were to find out, I bet "sparKo" would be on their ass for trademark infringement. That would be big, because you all have proof and I'll bet that this is hurting sparCO's reputation (having a company with just about the same name dealing s*** out). but, i dont know why, i thought this company is based in canada? that thought just stuck out can't remember. thoughts?

DAMN, bro!!!..sorry to here of your massive efforts without a single return to show. I sent them an enquiry last night and they returned it today......so, I hope my experience is better on the exchange!!..Peace!

damn, that sounds horrible. What about a Sparko alternative? Liiike possibly the magnacor(spelling?) wires? Dont they make a set? I was about the buy the sparko wires next week buut now im thinking twice. ANyone deal with magnacor wires? are they any good?(i saw em on sale on Mitchs website so im pretty sure they make em for the 2.0L)

I was thinking the same thing..if these guys wouldn't replace my wires...but "so far", they are replacing them....Peace!

can one of you guys post pics of the broken wire? got me scared to clean mine

Round rubber boot...why?? Yeah I'll take a picture tonight and post later..I'm at work right now. I'll discribe a bit better. There is a metal adapter that actually is inserted into the ignition wire itself,(inside of the boot) which I'm assuming is the fire path avenue from the wire to the plug. When I was removing the boot,...not pulling on the wire AT ALL, the force at which the metal fitting that actually makes contact with the plug had such a tight grip, that it pulled the metal work(gutted) completely out of the wire itself. I had to take a pair of needle nose plairs and get the cheap crap out. Now for pure comparisons: This morning in NC, it was about 36 degrees F, and I re-installed my OEM wires....the start was just as smooth as well as immediate engine idle. Driving to work seemed no different as well. So, since I've already purchased these wires, I'll replace them once I get my new ones...but at this point, they are nothing more than engine dress ups to me. Maybe over time, the degradation of the OEM would be the decided disadvantage over Sparkco, but who knows..Peace!

I've had my wires on for about 4 months and haven't had a single problem....i do notice a bit better throttle response on the wires.....my club has had absolutley no problems with them....but then again, we all have the 2.0L engines.

I will comment on the customer service so far. These guys have been prompt and respectful. I'm sorry the other member hasn't had the same experience with them. I do realize that some products do have their flaws, so maybe Sparkco will use this as a corrective measure, so everyone will be happy..Thank you sparkcoonline, I received your email and have since mailed the product kit back and sent a correspondence e-mail to you confirming.....Peace!:)

This just happened to me today. I have been following this post so I was extra carefull when I took off my wires today to clean the valve cover. I guess the grip on the plug was so tight that the wire separated from the clip that attaches to the plug. This happened with the shorty wire.

Sparko guy, I'm e-mailing you next to see what can be done. I understand sh*t happens and as long as you stand by the warranty I'm cool. I think it's a good product even if only for looks. I was going to figure out my before/after gas mileage rates today so I'll keep you other guys posted.

I'm scared to ever touch mine...:(

I'd like to see a list of how long they have been installed and how many miles have been put on them with you guys.

Well, I'd give them a good pull on to just check...the more on board with this problem to better customer service and quality control Sparkco will develope. I too think they mean well. ....This is just a learning curve for their product that should be corrected. So the more evidence that they have a problem, the better. My wire was the long one..I tried to make the shorty break, but it did just fine...but that is not to say it still will not happen, so I sent the entire kit back to Sparkco..Peace!

Hi guys,

I am very concerned with your complaints, and I have responded to everyone who has emailed me with instructions on how to proceed. I will be discussing with the designer about what could have caused this problem and how to improve the product. I will try to post any info I get or ask him to respond directly.

Thanks for your understanding, and please email me with any problems. We will do all we can to make things right.

Thanks
