My retrofit headlights

I got them like 2 weeks ago, kinda took a while to get the work done, but it was worth the wait. What is the difference between the TL and what I have?

The FX35 projector is probably the most widely used projector in retrofits.

It's a very good projector and has nice color and cutoff as well as decent width

The TL's are more "top of the line" i guess. And that's why they cost a little more.

They are a little more intense and a little wider

BUT, an FX35 can be modded to look dang near the same

i went lookign for comparison pics, but, can't find the thread that had em.

But, honestly, you'll be VERY happy with your setup.

Do you know if he upgraded to clear lenses or modded the shield or spacing or anything?

When you say upgraded to clear lenses what do you mean? and and yes I think the chrome rings are costume for the headlights and I the spacing is set back if that sounds right?

You should check out HIDplanet . com or theretrofitsource . com

Both have forums with LOOOOADS of information on HID projectors

about clear lenses, the FX35's come stock with a fresnal lens, it isn't perfectly clear.

Here's a shot of a totally stock FX35

and here is an FX35 with a replica clear lens upgrade

The spacing i was talking about is the distance of the lens on the projector itself away from the projector. Normally, the spacers are sheets of cardboard, like from a cereal box.

Moving the lens further away can increase clarity and sharpness of the cutoff, or add color to the cutoff as well. IE-deeper purples

oh, and here's a TL with ZKW clear lens

Yes, I seen the lights and had to have them, I wish I would of done my homework before hand, I have to send one of the lights back because the angle eye popped lose in shipping, I and going to see what Greg can do for me now that I know this. I think I will have to stay with the FX35's but I will see what he will do about the replica clear lens upgrade. I just sent him an email asking about the spacing. Ill keep you posted on what I end up doing. Do you have any pics of your headlights?

Nice lights angel eye's are a nice touch. :) I have my tl projector's just waiting to buy some p5 headlights off someone so I can get my project underway.

WOW they look great, I'm not to crazy about the ring around the lenses tho. But they look pretty damn good.

See, that's what I like most about my headlights. lol

I've also got a set of pro5 headights up FS right now

Are you wanting to put the TLs in pro5 lights? That is a BIIIG projector to tuck into the low beam spot on the p5 lights.

Chico had to heavily modifiy the Sedan housings to get everything to fit.

I'd suggest shooting him a PM to bounce some ideas off of or any questions about the TL's

We had one heck of a time getting them right into the sedan lights

I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest buying brand new headlights if you're going to retro. You'll never get the best output with even a slightly hazed lens.

Buy new Depo lights and order some sort of headlight overlay right away so they won't yellow or haze and stay protected from rock chips

I seen your FS thread, and I think I like what I have. I love the way the lights turned out and I think that I'm gonna stick with them for now. but your suggustion is noted. It just seems like a lot of work.

Sorry, my suggestion was for JDMBUllit

lol

Your setup is done already! And, it's quite sexy!!

lol nah I'll get some used one's from someone a sedan hit the junkyard not too long ago these cars do hit the junkyard but it's rare..About the tl projector's I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get there I want them in p5 headlights so I'll have to cook something up on my own wish me luck lol.If I find a better fitting projector for the p5 lights other than the TL's then I'll go with those and sell the TL's.BTW Pro5x2 I still have my train horn hooked up :)

I want these for my car. I think they look sick.

I'm going the projector route for my 2002 Protege ES. Right now, I think I'm going to get the Mercedes-Benz E55 projectors -- though these are low beam only. From talking to the seller, the projector basically re-focuses the low beam and "throws" the light out further, so separate high beams are not necessary.

Is this correct? Will I notice any degradation in my high beam performance going this route? If so, does anyone know if there is a two projector solution (low and high beam) that will fit inside of a 2002 ES headlight housing?
