My New STF project...

4 runs I took the first two on the RPF1's and then switched to the UL.

What is your impression comparing the RPF1s vs. ULs? My guess is that the ULs will always be faster but is it noticeable? I'm still running the TRM wheels but I found a good deal on RPF1s with 35 offset... not sure if they'll fit.

I was racing on old 195 Toyos with 15% left on 15x7 RPF1's and the other set with 20% left on 15x7.5UL wheels. 4 runs I took the first two on the RPF1's and then switched to the UL.

I though you had the Rivals on the 7.5 UL's ? How many sets do you have?

Theres nothing wrong with the TRM wheels. Not sure what width you got, but the 7.5" in the 43 offset is about as much rim as you can fit on our cars without rubbing struts or fenders. The 15x7 with a 35 offset will be close, depends on which tire you are planning and which size. The 195 Toyo will stretch no problem on the rim and fit just fine on the car. The Z2 is also no problem in 205 on the 15x7 et35. The Rival however will rub even with a 38 offset so I'm guessing with the 35 will Definately rub. (YMMV depending on your ride height) but at a 23.5/24 it will rub.

Im interested in how Andres' likes the 205 Rivals compared to the 225 on the 7.5" wheels.

Unfortunately I have the 7" TRM (gun metal) and planning to keep it for some winter tires and get another set... I wouldn't mind a second set of black 7.5" TRMs though... they look nice!

Preliminary results show the UL's to be slightly faster than the RPF1's no conclusions yet.

The Rivals from Nationals were sold, but recently ordered a new set of 205's

205 seems as fast as the 225 , and don't rub the inside fender like the 225's, and also the 225's are heavier.

Well yesterday I finally got my 195/50-15 R1R's on the 15x7.5 UL's , next event I'll have to compare against the 205 Rivals on the 15x7 RPF1's

One next to each other:

Crazy isn't it? Toyo 195/50 BFG 205/50 and everyone else's 225/45(besides BFG) are the same mounted tread width on a 7.5" rim...

Maybe I do need to try these..

Latest Upgrade...

Since AST did not come back with the front strut option for the 2 for now I decide to help the front of my car with a stiffer sway bar to reduce body roll and hopefully improve handling.

I did not want to have an extreme change to upset my well balanced set up so by Andy Hollis advice I got a Ford Fiesta's stock sway bar (19 mm aprox) and at $ 50 from ebay, with Powerflex bushings from Andy Hollis/Vorshlag.

I followed Corksport awesome instructions, still a b**** of a job, the longest 1 1/2 hour is right. Once done took the car for a test drive, feels crispy at turns and did not loose rotation ability, so far great and affordable mod.

Again thanks to Mr. Andy Hollis !!!

Gained 2 lbs. of weight in the front but gained performance

Andres, what front bar did you previously have on the car? CS, or stock?

When you say it was a b**** of a job that makes me concerned about doing mine this week...I was going to do it today actually but I had a speed3 in the garage with a downpipe to be installed.

Isn't the Corksport bar the one they use in B-spec racing?

Not sure don't think so.

gewt some help you will have a hard time removing the old one, you have to do it from the rear access, same thing putting back , the hardest think for me was screwing the new bar's bolts in, no room poor access.

Our bar is not legal for B-Spec. We have run it a few times at events where there are no other B-Spec cars to see how it worked. The AB Mazda 2 did have our bars on it.

I'm curious to see if you end up being faster with the bigger front bar.

Minimazda - the install isn't bad at all, just way more time consuming than you might expect for "just" a swaybar. My passenger side endlink kept wanting to loosen up afterward for some reason though, even with loctite. Oh, and you might want to get some collars to keep the bar from walking.

Great pic, Mazda 2 out-handling the Fit in the corners!

That picture is deceiving, they handle really well. That car behind me won the B-Spec race at the runoffs in 2012 and is super fast with the right driver.
