My New Red CX-70 I-6 Turbo S Premium Plus

Very cool! I'm in Tampa area as well. Odessa (Pasco) to be specific. My dealer is in Wesley Chapel

I should have taken about 2-3 weeks since the ordering of your checks and you receiving a call from the transfer agent. I had to follow up with the auto solutions team just to keep them on top of it. I decided to call them after 2 weeks of not hearing anything after the check was ordered and as soon as I called they told me they had the checks in their possession (like magic). A week an the half later, I got that call from the agent. There is nothing special about the agent. They are basically a Notary Public officer that works for the Manufacturers. Not sure where you purchased but I had to drive to Lakeland since that where I got my GV70. If you got yours from the Genesis of Tampa dealer, then I believe that location was recently shut down so they might be trying to arrange something with another dealer to where you can drop it off and finalize the transfer. Wish you best of luck and hope you get that call any day now.
The letter I got from the auto solutions guy telling me the checks have been ordered specifically said I was NOT to call or Email unless I haven't heard from them three weeks from that date. That will be this Thursday and I will absolutely be on him if I don't hear anything tomorrow.

We bought our GV70s in Lakeland as that's where my car is and has been for 4 months now. I haven't seen it but once (to get all my personal things out of, when it didn't have an engine or transmission in it, which was so sad to see) in all this time. We will have to go to Lakeland to get the money. Since you dealt with them, I assume you worked with Anthony in service? He's a really good buy and the only bright spot in this mess I've been through.

Another cool thing about Mazda, they don't lock their ECUs.

This opens the door for tuning for more HP and better fuel economy. I worked with DRTuned on our 24 CX5/Turbo. We are getting 32 to 33 highway in the summer heat. Fun factor is way up as well. It's NOT close to being a hot rod. More like a sport SUV...

DRTuned is a well respected tuner who tunes for the application. For us, a daily driver. He detuned the throttle response so it doesn't scare my wife on my request! :devilish:

Funny story, my wife asked what would happen to our CX 5 if something happened to me. I responded, if/when she took it to the dealership, they would flash it back to stock. She thought about it minute and responded, "But it won't be fun to drive anymore". What have I created!!!

At 7,000 miles, we have not been back to the dealership. If/when we take it back, I will put the stock tune in the car. It takes less than 10 minutes.
Thanks. I likely won't be doing any mods for more HP. The CX70 Turbo S Premium Plus is 340 HP (with Premium Unleaded) and 369 lb ft of torque, which is more than powerful enough for me. And it gets much better gas mileage than the Genesis GV70 did for sure.

Yes, worked with Anthony and I agree, I've had no issues with him and he's been great. He even arranged to have a Lyft ride up pick me up and take me home, knowing full well I wouldn't be back again :).

Anthony has been beyond nice to us. We won't need a lyft ride as I finally got tired of having a loaner, and we traded the other GV70 on my CX70, and then we just bit the bullet to buy my partner a CX50 Turbo S Premium Plus as he didn't want a SUV as large as the CX70. I'll drive my CX70 to collect the check and drive back home, since my GV70 has been at the dealership since the engine blew. It's annoying that we still have had to make payments on the GV70 and pay insurance on it, even though I've not been able to drive it. TBH, Genesis fought me every step of the way, over a car they messed up at build, by dropping a spare bolt into the drive shaft, which eventually worked its way through the crank shaft, transmission and engine block at 850 miles. They honestly thought I should be happy with them building an engine from parts at the dealership (by a guy who was excited to have the opportunity to build his first ever Genesis engine from scratch), which clearly I wasn't happy about at all. The replaced engine would not be coded to the car and that would devalue a car I paid more than $60K for. I even offered them the opportunity to just replace the car, which they weren't interested in doing at all.

I get it. Now you know better FE and power is just a few key strokes away. :ROFLMAO:

It's still cool we have this option The engine/trans and drive line can take more power and not hurt it. The 2.5l engine has internal parts found in high HP, performance. Stuff making over 1000 HP. I was impressed...

FWIW only 1% of Mazda owners modify their cars. I have a background building high HP cars so it was refreshing to be able to lightly modify our CX5/T. We didn't buy it for this reason but knowing tuning was possible pushed to the top of our cars to test drive.

I've been modifying imports and domestic cars for years. I'm VERY impressed with the attention to detail. I've modified the suspension that required lowering the engine/trans axle and rear assemble. I got a good look at the build.

Just one example. Mazda is OCD on supporting the wiring. It's a nuisance working/modifying but I get that this and many other details make this car last and last. I could go on and on but I think you get the drift...

Again, thanks for letting me know, but mods just aren't something I've had any interest in, tbh. Coming from two failed Genesis GV70 SUV's what was most important to me was buying something reliable, well built and fun to drive. I can't recall the last time I ever felt the need to hit 60 mph, in 6 seconds. I just need enough power to accelerate smoothly and the Inline 6 Turbo in the CX70 and the Turbo 4 in the CX50 provide all the power we need and then some.

Enjoy your CX5 Turbo and drive safely in great health!

IF you saw me on the streets/highway you would never know that we have modified our CX 5! I do enjoy the smooth and abundant power merging. I smile every time I fill up and note the average FE is well above published numbers.

I'm the car in the far right lane driving 65 while others zip by at +70. I use to be the guy in the far left lane with the peddle to the metal. Today I like the stress free world of driving a little under the speed limits and enjoy better than average FE....

My 1,100 HP trailer queen, hot rod NEVER sets foot on a public road other than to load onto a trailer. At the track it is at WOT for 4 seconds, then shut down and be pushed back to the pits. Hours of work to seconds of operation ratio is off the chart.

I hope you and yours equally enjoy your Mazda's safely and in the best of health.

Cheers!

You only race 1/8 mile?
Mostly. I make a few hero 1/4 mile passes to reset our NA record every season. As cars get faster, normally they run less distance. My 1/4 miles times will be mid to low 7 seconds when we get back to the track. 60' times will be +- 1 second or 1.3 to 1.4 second 0 to 60 mph.

I like the 1/8th. The race is normally over by the 1/8th when racing 1/4 any way. My car is doing +145 MPH in the 1/8 and +180 in the 1/4. I don't like going +180 door to door with a fellow racer.

And it's easier on the equipment...

I finally called the Case Manager in the Auto Solutions team. He had to put me on hold to find out why after 3 weeks, the checks still had not arrived. He found out they were cut on the 26th and were on their way to him. He said once he gets them (one to me and one to pay off the balance owed to Genesis Finance), he'll overnight them to the Transfer Agent, who supposedly will contact me within 3 business days of receiving the checks to schedule the transfer of ownership and give me my check. I just need this nightmare to be over with.

Very good. If it’s their job to stay in top of things and communicate, then they are not very good at it. Should all be wrapped up before next weekend.

I was in a weird spot as Genesis did deliver my car back to me while I was waiting for my check. I was so over it I decided to stop driving it and arrange a rental for about 2 weeks. I was also paranoid that I would drive it and someone would hit it and I came very close to that happening and after that I decided I didn’t want to take any more chances. I was super careful on the final drive back to Lakeland and was relieved once I had that check in hand.

In my case, they hadn't even finished building the engine (from parts) by the time the buyback was approved. It was at that point, I told them to keep the car, there, with the direction it was NOT to be driven anywhere by anyone. I check the app daily to make sure the car hasn't been driven and it hasn't been. I just want this over with and to have the check in my hand. When my car engine blew at 850 miles, the car was in beyond perfect condition. I'd only had it a month anyway.

And here I am a week later, without a single word from anyone about where the checks are and I certainly haven't been contacted by the Transfer Agent. I'm so FRUSTRATED at this point. I've reached out the Case Manager on the Auto Solutions team, and nothing. Crickets. I guess today, I'll call HMA and complain to see if I can get this elevated. It's now been 4 months since the GV70 Engine blew up. The treatment they give people in a situation like this is beyond unacceptable.

It shouldn’t take long for a check to be mailed and handle the transfer. I do wonder if for some reason they slow walk these things just to make their financial statements look better but I’m guessing at this point. Doesn’t help you if you are still paying for the Genesis and now the new vehicle so I get the frustration.

I think if you have gone thru a lemon lawyer (should be no cost to you), it would save you the frustration. Plus they can file legal action to cease asset if not made whole in a timely fashion.

It's too late to go lemon law. The checks have been cut. I just can't seem to get anything from the person who is supposed to meet me to give me the checks. I have now elevated this with the manufacturer and someone is supposed to contact me today to let me know when I will get my money.

And amazingly, soon after calling to gripe about not hearing from the Transfer Agent, he called just a few minutes ago and we're meeting him tomorrow at the Genesis dealership to sign over the car and get my check. This nightmare is FINALLY ending!

UPDATE: Got the check Friday and the Genesis nightmare is officially over. Now all I have to do is be grateful for my Mazda and enjoy driving it, which I greatly do enjoy driving!

I generally prefer physical knobs and buttons. But locking out a touchscreen during motion is STUPID personified. If that is a "safety option" then put the damn buttons and knobs back in. I have gotten used to using the rotary controller in my MX-5 so not an issue moving to the BMW (now that these morons quit mounting it backwards). But my wife is coming from a non-screened 2012. And sitting in the passenger seat, if she could not use the touch screen she would blow her brains out.
Just FYI, you can make the touch screen full time on CarPlay by going into settings<connectivity settings<selecting your phone from the list of available devices< and then scroll all the way down to the bottom and by default the “touchscreen in motion” is disabled but one click of the rotary knob will activate it :) I was excited when I discovered that setting in my CX-70

Because of the lack of buttons in the newest Mercedes, I didn't even consider them. Personally, I don't like touch screens, so very much appreciate that Mazda doesn't permit touch when a car is moving and they only permit touch for Apple CarPlay, but even that doesn't work after going over 5mph. I like the rotary controller in the CX70 and find it so easy to use.
I agree I’ve gotten used to the rotary dial and really like it (plus it keeps fingerprints off my screen) but just in case you ever want to make your touch screen work on Apple CarPlay while driving, you can. Just go into settings<connectivity settings<select your phone from the list of available devices< and then scroll all the way down to the bottom and by default the “touchscreen in motion” is disabled but one click of the rotary knob will activate it :) I was excited when I discovered that setting in my CX-70

I enabled it some time ago, but still don't use it!
