My New Red CX-70 I-6 Turbo S Premium Plus

Congrats @RBrylawski! 👍👍 It would be great to see your CX-50 have its own thread here like this one...Would love to see more pics and updates on the ownership experience..😁

CX-50 General

Also, those pics above would be a nice addition to the Mazda Photos thread...

Will do. I've just written it, but won't be in a position to post it till I get home tonight.

EDIT: Just posted an intro thread in the CX50 Forum and uploaded some pics to the photo thread.

Haven't posted an update on the CX70 as there's really not much to say. Every day I get behind the wheel of this great SUV, I love her more and more. I did have one odd thing happen a few days ago. While I was driving, the i-Active Sense warning lit up saying the system was only partially operational. It shows all the sensors in the display, including which might not be tracking things around the car. When we got to the restaurant, I took a damp cloth and wiped each sensor even though I didn't see any visible dirt.

When we got in the car to drive home, the system was fully functional and has been since. We were at the dealer picking up the new CX50 on Saturday, so I spoke with a service tech and he said if this ever happens, usually just wiping the sensors off will take care of this. He commented that road dust can often have micro-metal-dust, which can confuse the sensors. So, if you ever get a warning the i-Active Sense system is only partially operational, just wipe off the sensors and it should be good to go again.

On the other models, the light has to hit or be reflected on the camera's sensor just right to "blind" it momentarily. I personally have experienced it maybe 2 or 3 times total on my CX-9.

In my case with i-Active Sense however, it wasn't an issue with the cameras. There must have been something on the radar sensors, which made it only partially operational.

Sunday is Car-Detail-Day. We love NexGen products, so once a week, the cars get a spa day with NexGen Ceramic Detail, which has the highest percentage of Ceramic in a detail spray at 13%. So easy to spray on, wipe, then buff with a microfibre cloth and here are both cars in perfect glory!

Once a week as in every Sunday. The more times you use it, the more of a protective ceramic coat you get on the cars.
My detailing journey started in the days of waxes, sealants, and quick detailers. I'm accustomed to wiping the car down with a quick detail gloss enhancer at the end of a wash, but these new products are different. They aren't like Zaino. These ceramic sprays last for months after a single coat. After the second application, I doubt you're getting any additional protection. My belief is you're topping out at two coats every 3 to 6 months.

Whether beneficial or necessary isn't all that important to me. I enjoy doing it. It makes my car look showroom perfect once a week and my last car had the same done and it looked great ALL the time. I never had a swirl mark on the finish and never seemed to get any road rash issues either.

"Sides, I consider it a good workout to do once a week! ;-)

Haven't posted in a while. There's just not much to post about. The CX70 impresses more each and every day. Love just about everything about it. What a nice change coming from a Genesis, which was a nightmare, to say the least.

Sunday is detail the car day and nothing is nicer than a perfectly detailed Soul Red Metallic Mazda!

One of our GV70, is less than two months old and suffered catastrophic engine failure at 850 miles and Genesis is planning to replace the engine in a brand new car, which I've told them is unacceptable and no one seems to care. Living in Florida, the car now qualifies for Lemon Law, so that's the next step to fully divorce from them. I did call them today to say they have two options. Either I lemon law it or they buy it back. Of course, no one called back.
@RBrylawski As it turns out, I'm coming from a GV70 myself. My issues have been with the rear end differential, a known issue with this model. 5 replacements and they couldn't fix the noise. I lemoned it and the manufacturer approved a buyback and 3 months later they wrote my check and I bought a CX-70 two days later. I live in FL as well. I handled everything on my own. Researched the lemon law and was very well informed when I was presented with my buyback offer. They initially attempted to under value my trade-in as the dealer obviously gave me much less than book value. I pushed back and they agree to give me book value. If you need advice, DM me.

EDIT: I see you got rid of the other Genny so glad you were able to get that off your hands. Genesis still have some ways to go, unfortunately.

Nice review on the vehicle. I agree with just about everything you mentioned after having it for a few days. I'm not super impressed with the sound but it might be because I have a cargo liner in the back and perhaps that is taking away some of my bass. I'll remove it and see if that makes a difference.

In case you missed my post below, I woke up this morning to find the MyMazda App has now been updated to show the tire pressure for all 4 tires. What I'm amazed at is I contacted Mazda just two days ago to let them know it wasn't working. And two days later, it's been fixed. I had an issue with the Genesis App for my GV70. It's been 2 months since I asked them to resolve the issue and no one. I repeat - NO ONE from Genesis EVER followed up, nor did they fix the issue with my car in the app. WHAT A DIFFERENCE going from Genesis to Mazda has been so far!

I took the 70 back to the dealer today to look at my wipers. It was adjust too far off and it was hitting the metal body frame making a loud noise. They adjusted it and apparently it is calibrated by electronically via some method. Anyways, when I got home, I was greeted with an email with a video recording of the technician explaining the problem and showing me all the other things they did during the repair...like checking the brakes, tire treads, etc. I've never had that experience before at any other dealership. Perhaps this is common with other brands, not Hyundai/Genesis. It was a good first experience and I hope that continues.

My buyback has been approved and I'm getting everything I paid into the car, plus they're paying off the loan. They didn't try to depreciate anything, but then I only had the car one month and 850 miles. But unlike you, I petitioned for the buyback directly with Genesis, which has been an exasperating experience at best. It's been more than 4 months and I haven't received my money yet. The checks have been ordered and I'm supposed to wait to hear from a "transfer agent' to arrange to sign the car over to them and get the check. I don't like to hate, but I truly hate them for making the entire thing a miserable experience. NEVER EVER EVER will I consider anything from that brand. EVER EVER EVER!

Your service experience on the wiper blades sounds great! I've never gotten a video of a service call, but then I've not needed to take my CX in to my Mazda dealer for anything yet. I have a feeling this is your dealer, which sounds pretty terrific.

Thanks for writing and I hope you have nothing but happy, safe miles in your CX. Where in Florida are you? I'm in Tampa.

Very cool! I'm in Tampa area as well. Odessa (Pasco) to be specific. My dealer is in Wesley Chapel

I should have taken about 2-3 weeks since the ordering of your checks and you receiving a call from the transfer agent. I had to follow up with the auto solutions team just to keep them on top of it. I decided to call them after 2 weeks of not hearing anything after the check was ordered and as soon as I called they told me they had the checks in their possession (like magic). A week an the half later, I got that call from the agent. There is nothing special about the agent. They are basically a Notary Public officer that works for the Manufacturers. Not sure where you purchased but I had to drive to Lakeland since that where I got my GV70. If you got yours from the Genesis of Tampa dealer, then I believe that location was recently shut down so they might be trying to arrange something with another dealer to where you can drop it off and finalize the transfer. Wish you best of luck and hope you get that call any day now.

Another cool thing about Mazda, they don't lock their ECUs.

This opens the door for tuning for more HP and better fuel economy. I worked with DRTuned on our 24 CX5/Turbo. We are getting 32 to 33 highway in the summer heat. Fun factor is way up as well. It's NOT close to being a hot rod. More like a sport SUV...

DRTuned is a well respected tuner who tunes for the application. For us, a daily driver. He detuned the throttle response so it doesn't scare my wife on my request! :devilish:

Funny story, my wife asked what would happen to our CX 5 if something happened to me. I responded, if/when she took it to the dealership, they would flash it back to stock. She thought about it minute and responded, "But it won't be fun to drive anymore". What have I created!!!

At 7,000 miles, we have not been back to the dealership. If/when we take it back, I will put the stock tune in the car. It takes less than 10 minutes.
