My Msp Shocks The Piss Out Of Me

It sounds stupid but try it after changing shoes... sometimes it's the components of the shoes (plastic or other stuff) that accumulates the static charge... happens to me all the time in winter when I'm wearing my heavy boots. (big plastic sole)

i'm glad i'm not the only one!!! my msp shocks the sh!t out of me every time i get out! and it's not just a little zap, it's a 6 inch arc of electricity!! next halloween, me and my msp could go as a tesla coil!!! okay, maybe it's not that bad, but it does shock the hell outta me and dammit it smarts!

when i get out of the car i just shut the door via the glass window... magic! no shocking. (if your wearing long sleeves you can pull your sleeve over your hand so you dont get fingerprints)

Jersey is very right about this and it is actually more serious of an issue if you are getting a shock that big. Everyone should really make a habit out of holding onto the door frame while you are exiting your car. If you are at the gas station and get back in your car while it fills up, you can start a fire if you just get out of the car and go touch near the filler without grounding yourself out first. Holding onto the door frame is the easiest way to ground yourself out without getting shocked.

Just something to think about.

wow didnt know that the msp is that bad.my 2k civic was 1000x worse , like jersey and 505zoom said i made a habit to hold the frame or the metal side of the door

Word, at work I have one pair of shoes that will cause a TERRIFIC jolt when I touch the elevator button. Also, when I am moving some PC's around on a metal, multilayered cart I can touch someone next to me and they get a nice shock. :D
When I was a kid I used to shuffle around in wool socks during the winter and creep up on my friends at night. As they lay there sleeping I would take the wire hanger I was holding, place it about an inch away from their open mouths, and watch the brilliant blue spark arch from the tip of the hanger to their teeth.
Man it was too funny.(evil)

Doesn't matter what shoes I wear, what part of the car I grab... gas stations... don't even get me started. I dread going there. I like the little "reminder" they put near the pumps... "to avoid starting a fire due to static electricity...blah, blah, blah....". Winter is a NIGHTWARE for me. I have to shock myself in order not to shock other people. It's funny and sad at the same time. Fair warning.... if you see my hair start to raise... RUN. lol
