My MS3 was stolen on Friday!!

Well...here are the pictures. I don't know the real extent of the damage, but the car certainly doesn't move. Check out the clutch picture! How he did that, I have no idea. All 4 rims are going to have to be repaired / replaced. He blew one tire (it is in the trunk) and therefore --- the donut is on.
Check out the gear box too. What was he doing on the inside to it?

The engine actually looked ok. Oh yeah...he put about 500 miles on it. I guess that is not bad considering he had it for over 40 days.

The car also smells like smoke as an added feature...
My neighbor, actually offered me $22K for it after I get it fixed though! Are people paying 23K out the door for the car? I guess I should have been more clear...I paid $23K too.. MSRP in other words...but after tax and title, it was $24.5K out the door. Most dealers are getting MSRP or very close to it for the MS3 in the MD/DC/VA area. If you paid anything remotely close to invoice around these parts, you got a super deal.

:( your poor baby...

Get it fixed and then sell it to your neighbor...wonder if you can write off the loss on your taxes somehow?

You can write off any losses due to theft on your taxes. Of course it is not a one to one exchange, but it is something....

Thanks for your condolences.

Wow, what a douche. I hope this guy gets what's coming to him. Have the cops tried to fingerprint the car? I doubt this guy thought ahead and used gloves.

Jeez, people suck. The least he could have done is got it chopped after all that...

Instead of beating the guys ass for taking it beat his ass for not making sure it wasnt tottaled.

Good luck man.

The neghibor thats wants it is that the same one who know the guy who took it?

It's almost like he made a half-assed effort to chop the car up, but realized he was too lazy to do it.
He probably didn't know how to drive a standard and got all angry at the clutch and stick :P

That is a very odd situation for someone to steal a performance car and not either total it or part it out. I'm thinking he was drunk and drove the car into a whole bunch of curbs. Too bad he wasn't caught while doing it.

Now! I would like to know how the hell he managed to keep a stolen car for 40 days and drive it for 500 miles and NOT getting caught. (ugh)
What the hell the cops were doing? (dunno) (five-0)

Cops aren't looking for stolen vehicles most of the time. They typically only check it's status if the driver has done something/something is wrong with the car or the vehicle has been abandon.

Damn...that's horrible. Hope you can sell it and get close to the money you spent for it...if your neighbor will buy it, wave bye-bye to it before he changes his mind. The thief still needs to bleed.

Busting people for tinted windows.

Man I just read this whole thread. Sorry to hear about that, sounds like the guy was pretty much an idiot, and was interested in stealing some stuff off the car, but then like someone else said saw it was too much work, or had a change in heart and bailed? Maybe a bit green to "auto theft"? Hopefully get it fixed and dump it on your neighbor.

Is there an MS3 abuse hotline?

hundreds of MS3s are abused each year and don't know who to reach out too.

We can't let these victims be kept silent any longer.

Thanks everyone...to answer a few comments...

No the cops didn't fingerprint the car. Unless there is a body in the car, they could care less. Tow it and that's it...

He didn't break the motor mounts. In fact the engine looks and sounds fine. He clearly couldn't drive a stick worth a damn and destroyed the clutch in only 500 miles.

I do have approval from the insurance company to get it fixed. It should hopefully be done in about another 30 days or so. When it is, I will take pictures of two identical red MS3s... then I can hopefully sell it very shortly thereafter.
