dirtysouth_msp said:I have a hard time believing that every authorized Unichip tuner in the country is going to stop tuning the Unichip. There are a lot of other makes and models of cars that run these chips. I just met a guy yesterday with a Unichip tuned Volvo and he gave me a card for an authorized tuner in the area. I guess the version could be different, but it seems like for pre-PDA enabled Unichips, that would mostly just be tuning differences. The actual hardware is mostly likely used for many applications. Now I could see the harnesses for the current Unichip becoming impossible to get, but if you have a working harness, that should not be a problem. I may be wrong, but I'm just trying to use common sense I guess.

JDM Sam said:The new Unichip is a XP based software vs the old DOS based software. They are swapping the CPU's with that are faster and up to date with new technology so tuning will more tuner friendly and where it will work with the PDA's. Also, the USB vs serial port connector change for faster upload and downloads.
JDM Sam said:I'd really look into rom flashing the stock ecu. some guy in the tuning forum is working on the binaries. Screw the piggy back if you can tune the stock ecu. If this guy figures it out, this will be a great option. If he doesn't get it to work the unichip will work fine though.
