the problem right now is limited to a simple internet forum...I've have seen no press releases regarding this done by the mainstream media, so their reputation hasnt been touched...
Just like the SRT4 flywheels blowing up, never a press release but still its a problem. Just imagine running it down the track at 100 MPH and it lets go there, hard left and here comes the wall due to the LF tire locking up. I said in in the past that it will take someone getting killed before any dealer steps up and starts a recall. When someone does get killed (hope that doesn't happen) then you will hear all about it and the problems that others have had with it.

sad but true.

It is all sad and is all true, all it comes down to is noone gives two $hits about us or our safety, its all about the money they get to pocket.... My dealer seems almost happy it broke claiming now they get to make money on fixing it, #uck that!

I know damn well there wont be a recall because theres not enough cars to recall first off, and then the percentage of them that its happening to is even lower. They will just keep causing people the heart ache of having their engines ***** by some mechanic and that is a sad story when you buy a brand new car and have less than 10k miles on it...... Honestly Im not going to feel the same about my car, this is the first True new car I bought and was filled with Glee knowing that everything in it is brand spanking new, and it would run accordingly to how I take care of it not how the person before me did and thats why I didnt buy a used Evo or Wrx because I wanted everything to be perfect, now after this I will feel like Im driving a #uckin salvaged vehicle and Mazda acts like I should just deal with it. Its always going to be in my mind what the "Certified Mazda Mechanic" missed and what will happen to that part down the line. And Im not just talking about my motor mounts, Im talking my tranny my exhaust, my shifter assembly, a lot more could be messed up than they are going to want to check.... (notcool)

off topic, but it is just silly that other forum names can't be posted here. China and North Korea do the same thing with freedom related websites....

Don't you all think more and more of these are going to keep popping up? It's a crappy mount, even some one who babies their car would probably have the mount fail at 40k miles at most. Right or wrong? I seems like it would be a wear item, not just work or not work, but the mount would actually wear down until it breaks, and the ones that aren't broken yet are wearing down every day.

Honestly I totally agree with you, the supposed fact that theres rubber in the hole is just one reason its backing out. The other mount on the other side of my engine completely crumbled, which I dont recall anyone else having. But even so, that should not happen, each mount should honestly be able to hold the engine by itself, not just one breaks they all break. And for god sacks its a 2.3L engine! Its not even close to the wieght of some of the other engines out there! Its completely rediculous... And Yes I am just sitting on here waiting for people to respond! lol I dont have a car as of right now, I need to replace a brake line on my saturn and I havent received a rental from my dealer yet.....(dark)

I hear you bro, I feel the same way I am thinking of buying an ms3. Your huge mistake was not torquing the bolt yourself when you still heard it poping after you took it in. That is not to say it is an exuse for the crappy dealer that said they fixed it and really did nothing. I am glad I found this forum before buying an ms3 because now I can learn from others mistakes. And now I know to never buy a used one because it probly had the engine drop on it.

How the hell can they have not given you a rental by now let alone that monday when it opened up?

I think you need to start being in there and a bit more stern with them.

Its not that easy man.

Not sure about you but I dont have a lift to put it up in the air and a jack to support the engine weight while I crank on that bolt.

I looked at mine and put a wrench on it and gave it a few tugs but it woudlnt budge but I didnt expect it to either with the weight of the engine on it. My mount looks clean as can be with some red s*** on the bolt so I think since its a newer run its fine.

If mine still takes a s*** well then what can I do? Obviously those who had this happen heard noises first so dont let it slide and dont keep drving it if that happens.

Wow the first comment that actually makes sense. Let's see if others learn from this.

$20-30 will get you a good enough floor jack, you don't need a lift ( BTW I used the stock car jack and it worked like a charm). And jackstands are cheap. The torque wrench might run you $40 or more but for that price, it's worth the peace of mind it brings. If the bolt is tight at 75 ft/lbs or so you don't need to do anything but check it in a couple months. If it's still tight then it's fine.

YEa I was thinking just use four jackstands and a floor jack. I guess some people don't have these tools in their arsenal but that is what I would do if it were me.

i feel you voice....im pretty sure we with MS3's are all concerned about these incedents. mazda just has to do something yesterday!

The bolt would have failed torqued or not. There have been a few people who just plain had the bolt shear off. Wasn't loose, just freaking broke!

Doubt that and some of what we are going to hear are "I heard", "I read on the net" BS.

There was a member that bought just the bolt to test in his shop since he is an engineer and it was pretty freaking strong he said.

+1

Yep, if the bolt was weak there'd a whole lot more broken mounts. I know for sure mine would've sheared a long time ago.

I am inclined to believe what the Japanese engineers told Justafourbanger about the extra rubber under the bolt compressing and causing it to loosen. I don't think they are just breaking for no reason at all.

Isnt what you just said about the member on the "net" the same as the "i read on the net" bs???

Or am I confused?
