my christmas present, a broken motor mount!!!!

there really shouldnt be any reason for them to need mazdas approval on this one. the only thing i can really think of is if there is some major damage to other parts of the driveline from this. also did you have any engine mods at all?? i dont see any in your signature.

that ****** dealer's so bulls***. they told me that my driver side axle was messed up from the engine falling. they would have to swap that out too. i have a CAI .. don't know if that matters in this situation

hey the dealer may not have torqued the tranny mount bolt down prpoerly when they replaced it before cuase if its not torqed properly the bolt will vibrate loose and cuase breakge. This happend to my buddy he didnt tq the bolt as good as he should have and the motor fell just like yours.

well i called the dealer today to find out the status of my car.. surely enough, it wasn't even touched. the ****** service guy told me they were still waiting for mazda to approve the repair... anybody know why they need approval for this particular warranty repair?

d0000d, be very careful...is the cai on the car at the dealership?
when they voided my warranty, they didn't even tell me this information. they just said that the car hasn't been worked on. i had to walk into the dealership at the end of the day to get an update on my car.
sure enough, a mazda rep came and took pics of my engine bay and voided my warranty. so **** them.
be very careful

what?! they're doing that now. that's bs. cai causing a motor to fall?

i replied to your pm...also. these were two separate times. i didn't take my car to the dealership when my engine fell. i took my car to the dealership in october or something when i threw cel and my boost controller was on the car

I've been trying to read every little bit of this thread and for the most part I have and I'd like to throw my two cents in. First of all good luck with getting the mount fixed and STAYING that way and hopefully Mazda will throw you a bone for your troubles.

I unfortunately must say that Mazda has a HORRIBLE track record with motor mounts specifically. I understand cars are complicated and things go wrong but Mazda has exhibited signs of not learning from their mistakes which I find completely unacceptable since they are such an exceptional manufacturer and overall have very good quality vehicles.

My 2003 had several motor mount issues and I finally replaced them with stiff as hell AWR ones after my torn mounts decided to stress my trans out enough to break it. The tranny was replaced under warranty thankfully. I'm really paranoid something is going to happen with this car because I always have the same problems with Mazdas...it's scary almost..

My mom's 2000 Protege ES's suspension creaks in the cold, the motor mounts are shot actually (but it's an auto and not enough power to matter), my 2003 MSP had the worst suspension creaks in the cold (I did fix it with the AXR bracket and kept replacing bushings up front but it got reallllly old to deal with.), wastegate actuator took a crap, brakes that warped under 12 in break-in type stop and go easy driving, alarm took a crap, and my stereo had to be replaced a billion times too.

So far my 08 MS3 has been awesome but I'm getting nervous of the problems I've seen in cold weather (creaks and rattles), I had my stereo replaced under the 08.5 TSB for bass problems, and I'm hearing more and more people with newer MS3's or fixed ones having trans problems. Actually sometimes when it's cold out and I turn hard right I get this awful sound which I'm gonna have to get looked at shortly...oh boy.

I love Mazdas obviously. I've owned 2/4 Mazdaspeed products that have been made and learned to drive on my mom's old Protege but I hope Mazda learns how to make a freakin good motor mount for the next speed3..

And why haven't they done anything besides pampering and replacing with a supposedly "better" mount. Why don't they spit out a beefier unit in the vein of an aftermarket one and get some more return customers...

I feel like some people here are being a bit fanboish, and I consider myself a huge Mazda freak so something is wrong here. We can LOVE Mazda and still objectively point out it's shortcomings in a constructive manner.

If I ever had another mount problem I would certainly write Mazda a letter and would still have a hell of a decision before I bought another Mazda...

ur absolutely right.. i love my car also and i really really want to stay with this car..but ive had so many problems with this car in specific. i think my car's been at the dealer for a total of a month because of warranty repairs.. its ridiculous.. again i love the car, but we'll see what they say about this repair.. the mazda rep took pics and my car's being investigated according to the service manager.

i've been calling the dealer and everyday, its always the same answer.."we're waiting for mazda to approve the warranty repair." today the dealer called me up and told me the repair is approved and they are sending parts into the dealer for the warranty. its a relief to finally find out there's some progress going on, but i'm still weary about keeping the same car, or even staying in the mazda family. as soon as I get my car back, i'm going to call mazda corporate and b**** until I get what I want. hopefully we can work something out cuz i love my ms3

d00d, for 28 dollars i fixed this with help of two other people. 8 dollars for the bolt, 20 to get it extracted once my extractor had already broken. waiting for however long you've been waiting for this is ******* retarded...
although did you have suspension problems?

i never had suspension problems but the dealer said they'd replace the axle since the engine ****** it up, but who knows what they do and dont do. hopefully i won't have to fix anything else on this. i'm looking to get an '09

this sucks...now im not even sure if I should the car for long and my ms3 is completely stock performance wise,.

it's been like 2 weeks, whats the status dude?

got my car back friday.. they fixed everything after 16 damn days.. i still didn't get to call mazda. i'm gonna call mazda monday night and hopefully i can get something started... i'm hoping mazda won't give me problems and give me what i want.

i drove my car around for awhile and it feels the same as before..i definitely had to get used to it cuz i was driving a minivan for more than 2 weeks.

What is the group final say on this question..?.."a stiffer rear engine mount will help save the stock side tranny mounts" OR "a stiffer rear mount will stress out the stock side mounts" ?
