I've been trying to read every little bit of this thread and for the most part I have and I'd like to throw my two cents in. First of all good luck with getting the mount fixed and STAYING that way and hopefully Mazda will throw you a bone for your troubles.
I unfortunately must say that Mazda has a HORRIBLE track record with motor mounts specifically. I understand cars are complicated and things go wrong but Mazda has exhibited signs of not learning from their mistakes which I find completely unacceptable since they are such an exceptional manufacturer and overall have very good quality vehicles.
My 2003 had several motor mount issues and I finally replaced them with stiff as hell AWR ones after my torn mounts decided to stress my trans out enough to break it. The tranny was replaced under warranty thankfully. I'm really paranoid something is going to happen with this car because I always have the same problems with Mazdas...it's scary almost..
My mom's 2000 Protege ES's suspension creaks in the cold, the motor mounts are shot actually (but it's an auto and not enough power to matter), my 2003 MSP had the worst suspension creaks in the cold (I did fix it with the AXR bracket and kept replacing bushings up front but it got reallllly old to deal with.), wastegate actuator took a crap, brakes that warped under 12 in break-in type stop and go easy driving, alarm took a crap, and my stereo had to be replaced a billion times too.
So far my 08 MS3 has been awesome but I'm getting nervous of the problems I've seen in cold weather (creaks and rattles), I had my stereo replaced under the 08.5 TSB for bass problems, and I'm hearing more and more people with newer MS3's or fixed ones having trans problems. Actually sometimes when it's cold out and I turn hard right I get this awful sound which I'm gonna have to get looked at shortly...oh boy.
I love Mazdas obviously. I've owned 2/4 Mazdaspeed products that have been made and learned to drive on my mom's old Protege but I hope Mazda learns how to make a freakin good motor mount for the next speed3..
And why haven't they done anything besides pampering and replacing with a supposedly "better" mount. Why don't they spit out a beefier unit in the vein of an aftermarket one and get some more return customers...
I feel like some people here are being a bit fanboish, and I consider myself a huge Mazda freak so something is wrong here. We can LOVE Mazda and still objectively point out it's shortcomings in a constructive manner.
If I ever had another mount problem I would certainly write Mazda a letter and would still have a hell of a decision before I bought another Mazda...
