My car was stolen and totaled

My car was stolen from my place of employment and found wrecked in a ditch a few days later. It was totaled. I have been buisy with the cops and the insurance company these last couple of weeks. I dont have much longer on my rent car before the insurance company stops paying the bill. I have been looking at new cars but cannot decide what to get. You would think I would just go buy another camaro but I feel as if I should get something else. I loved that car but I have had camaros for a long time I would like to try something else. My only problem is if I like the looks it is not fast enough.

If I have not responded to any threads or questions that I started that is where I have been.

I am driving a chevy malabu and it SUCKS!

Well, first of all what is your price range? If you are looking strictly at new cars then for around $20,000 the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V is probably going to be the fastest thing that you'll find. If you can spend around $25,000 then I would recommend a WRX. If you can spend $30,000 well then... the possiblities are almost endless around that price but I would get a new Nissan 350Z. :D

or if you still want the muscle car feel, get a Mustang GT or the Bullitt special edition (if they still make them). There's a black Bullitt parked where I work, and that's actually the first Mustang that I don't consider fugly

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. First off if I go foregin then it needs to be REAL fast. Something like a older Z or the Supra. I am currently looking into a 97 c5. I personaly like the look of the older tt Z's but they are not as fast as the Supras. On the other hand trying to find a tt supra that has not been molested to death for a decent price is hard. I also like the looks of the RX7's but honestly (no slaming intended) from what I have heard and read they are not that reliable to mod. They are sweet looking tho. Anyway keep the suggestions comming. I would like to keep it below 28k so I dont have to add any money to it.

Thanks

Yep, just get the WRX and buy a boost controller for a couple hundred and run about 23 psi and toast bad domestics all day long. Be careful though, at about 20 psi the check engine light will come on hehe.

If you do what NC suggested, you will probably be repairing your WRX more than you'll get to drive it. I say get a WRX and do a search on I-Club for deals on performance parts. Or just frequent the Vendor classifieds on I-Club.

Let me tell you all something, If I had 28-30k to blow on a car it would NEVER be an import boy racer. They are so uncomfortable to drive compared to what is out there for 30k. And I will tell you what about this 25k WRX, It ain't all it's cracked up to be~~ I got taken by a basically stock late 90's DSM and an early 90's POS Firebird in a WRX. The car is fast, no doubt, but don't get all pissed that you didn't buy one/couldn't afford one yada yada yada, they are just another overpriced cheapened feeling import econo car with a compressor attached to the in/out manifolds. Plus, the lights on those things are really starting to get to me ~~they should be banned here, they look like you should be in the Jarrasic Park movies as a tour vehicle~~those things look like they have like 30 sets of headlights on them. what are you doing ~~ trying to contact UFO's. I am really not sure what kind of style/fashin designer they consult when they make cars today. Oh yea, lets take out all of the chrome/billet aluminum and add plastic~~ and paint it so it looks like matte finished metal, and put lights all over it so the nearest airport can use you as a landing strip. And make them all knobby looking on the inside(GM is good for this lately) and while we are at it, put plastic in the trannies, so they shift smoother, yea, and slap a 25-30k sticker on it and they will come!! And we just keep buying the pieces of s***. Like I said for 30K~~ there would be NO WAY I would have a 4 cylinder and velveteen seats with painted plastic trim. It ain't worth it. For 17k that I paid for my mazda~~ i am happy, nicer IMO than a Civic(which I also own) and not blown out of proportion like a WRX, I would NEVER give any company twicce what I paid for a car just cause it had 100 more HP, and was UGLIER~~ maybe I have a different set of priorities.

Sorry, just venting.

nicely said racer 5. very funny but true. if i had 30k to spend it would be a 2003 cobra with a 4.6 dohc v8 supercharged with 390hp. irs in the back. will smoke the wrx. sweet.

Yeah, I caught a WRX on the highway. It has horrible drivetrain loss due to the AWD. I think on mag rated it at 140 HP to the wheels.

You guys are tottaly right. A WRX is a piece of s*** economy car. Who would pay 25 grand for that car. So what if its got turbo and all wheel drive and runs 14.3 in the 1/4 stock. I mean this car realy sucks....and oh yeah it only won the world rally championships 3 consecutive years in a row....what a piece of crap. And I hate how when you slam the door shut you get that solid thunk like a mercedes benz or when you sit in the very supportive buckket seats and grab the stock momo steering wheel and shifter. I drove one and smoked a mustang real bad so I think its more crappy. I hate how ricey it is even though it is one of the most reveered cars in japan alongside the evolution and skyline. 4 wheel drive is a piece of s*** lemme tell ya...When I dropped the clutch at 7 grand when it was drizzling outside it didnt even peel out...what kinda car is that???

Why did they bring this crappy car over stateside hell I hope they dont bring anymore cars like the evolution and lancer.
How can u people be so ignorant and ungreatful of finally getting a real Japanese supercar over here????

Obvously u did not have a chance to put a WRX thru its paces....Ok maybe its wierd and boxy but its a ****** rally car!!!!

Umm you could buy a MP3 there are still 2 for sale in Arizona.. They are under 21K. A big plus is you could be a part of the elite 1500. You could then take the extra cash and mod the hell out of the engine. Just my 2c ....

Linux racer that reply was not meant for you:)

I am sorry if I offended anybody but evertime I see guys complaining about the car WRX it earks me. I mean this is a great milestone that the japs Have finally brought over a serous sports car since the demise of the supra, rx7 ect.
LoL
I just got into an argument with my girlfriend while I was simultanously typing the prevous post..I just read it over... damn I was steaming:) . Sorry If I offended anyone.

I am takin my breaths now:D

Man, I definitely did not give it even a 1st thought. No offense here. I just knew by your post that you did not have any feelings on the issue!;)

LMAO, Spoolin, or anyone else for that matter~~it would take more than smack talking to offend me. No problem~~ I was just saying~~ why pay for a rally car when you sit in rush hour traffic in the NY metro area daily?? For me in CT, A "FAst" car is almost worthless~~no roads long enough to enjoy them on~~except for I95 which is swarming with staties. IMO, I do not think the WRX is all its crackedc up to be. You talk about Rally champs for 3 years whatever whatever yada yada, but what relevence does that have when I am stuck behind a tractor trailor, and some mom in a Minivan. Plus, I have "put it through its paces" a buddy has one. And He lets me drive it. It is much faster than my P5, but like I said, I got toasted by a POS Firebird. For that price, Iam starting to look at the Jag X or new caddy, A4, Lincoln LS. Luxury, performance, style(that dosen't look like a UFO), plus the status symbol~~IMO you can't beat it. However, Like I said, I may have a different set of priorities.

Thanks again for all the helpfull advise. I met someone up at the local Subaru dealership last night that took me for a ride in his modded WRX. First I test drove a stock one (again) and then we got in his. It was like a different car. He had the prodrive rims, MBC, and exhaust. When he hit the gas it had that put you in the chair like power. It felt a lot better on those 18's than those stock rims and tires. Overall I would give the car a thumbs up. The only thing I did not like is the cheap interior and the looks from the front. It would take some getting used to. He had a time slip from last weekend where it ran a 13.5 @ just over 100 miles per hour. That is quick!

I going on a few more test drives tonight and hopefully I will make up my mind soon. Oh, last night I test drove a C5. It had no more accleration than my Camaro and the interior was about the same. Wierd how GM would try and market a car that was just as fast as the camaro and had the same interior but mark the price way up. I was kind of disapointed.

I fell kind of stuck because I love Chevy cars but I just am bored with the camaros and don't feel the vette is the best investment. I could go ford but they are just not as fast.

LT1,

Take the chance that you will be pleased by the little 4 banger. It is possible to kick ass in a modified 4, so cheer up and join the high tech revolution of the power of 4.
