Mute?

Am I missing something, is there not a MUTE function on the Bose stereo in the GT with Tech Package?

Well I don't really want to have to go back through the hassle of finding my place in my iPod playlist, will try and see if it will resume. But honestly, why the F would you not put a MUTE button on the car? Ridiculous.

The stereo in our Honda Ridgeline has no mute button. Neither did the factory radio in my previous car (WRX.) I always wondered why that was the case... You should check it to be sure but I don't think pushing the power button will lose the usb or ipod song position -- the head unit still has power even when its off. Personally I haven't found the lack of a mute button to be a problem since these cars have also had rotary volume knobs -- a quick twist and the volume goes from loud to low. Now, to make a stereo without a rotary knob AND without a mute button, well that would be a heinous crime indeed!

Mazda are using the power button as a mute, this is apparent when you put the audio screen up with the power off.

Although we have the commander in the UK its virtually left unused, shame really as it could have been used for a lot of other functions, such as mute, back, speed dial direct etc.

My Sport Manual has a Mute button on the steering wheel and I use it all the time. I think its in the same place where those with higher models have their Bluetooth button.

The reason I ask, is because the manual seems to indicate a mute for the non-Tech package stereo, in the Sport, etc. And yeah, a mute on the steering wheel would have been super handy. Not a huge thing, was just curious if I was missing something. Still kinda stupid to have to power off the head unit, it means to mute the stereo I'm also turning off Nav, etc.

Nav stays powered up when stero is clicked off.

But you are making much out of nothing. If my Ford and Volvo have a mute button, I don't know where it might be - If I want to silence the audio temporarily, I simply turn the volume CCW. I haven't strained a wrist muscle yet!
Also, the CX-5 w/Tech/Bose auto-mutes whenever a bluetooth call is placed or received. I don't use the Nav system (very poorly implemented) but I recall the audio is also auto-muted whenever a voice command is entered or when the Nav system verbalizes.

Nav stays up, but turning off the audio, and turning it back, greats me with a blank screen if the iPod is selected. Not only does it not resume, it doesn't even find the iPod. Forcing me to unplug it, plug it back in, which is completely screwed. Yet another part of the iPod bugs in this system I guess.

That won't be an issue if you use the volume knob to silence the audio. You can also use the pause button to silence the audio, that way you won't miss any of the track.

The thing that puzzles me is you can't change the mode from the wheel either. You can on my 07 3. Or am I missing something?

I have a Bose system in my CX7 and I use the MUTE botton on the steering wheel. Very handy to kill commercials that often repeat.
