MSP vs RX-8

This happened a few days ago, but was brought up again by a friend who thought I should post it.

I was going down the highway and saw a RX-8, so I get next to it and drive side by side with it for a while. Then I hear the car start to go, so I take off. I leave him without a problem but think that he wasn't racing afterall, since I pulled on him so hard.

He takes the exit, and I follow only for us to be stopped together at a red light. I pull up next to him and look over as he revs and looks back at me. I decided to act a fool since I had friends with me and pull the ebrake, floor it and do a pretty nice burnout. Then he rolls down his window and asks me where I bought the car. I tell him and come to find out, he's a sales manager at the dealership I take the car in for warranty work. So here I am burning up my tires & acting like an ass in front of a manager at the dealership. Great.

Anyway, the light turns green as I'm talking and he guns it. I follow suit and while he did have a nice jump on me, I catch up to him and pass him. Again, it looked like he stopped trying, so I slow down and get back on the highway.

Fast forward a few days when I'm talking to another MSP owner that goes to the same dealership and he said the manager guy talked to him about me and apparently said "I don't know what he did to that car, but it was FAST" or something like that. With that comment, I can't help but to think that maybe he was trying, after all.... SWEET.

I hope his statment, "That car was fast, I wonder what He did to it," does not turn into, "Hmmmm, with all those mods you must have done, I cant cover this under warrenty."

I've seen how fast it is in person. I was boosting 8 PSI, he would take off. It took a little bit to catch up to him. I know why it is fast.

A green RX8 tried racing me a couple of weeks ago, but i didn't want to run.. Cuz i had the mentality of it smoking me. But when he launch on me it didn't seem that fast.

Nah, the manager was cool. I even spoke to him today when I took my car in at that same dealership.

Only mods are in my signature minus one or two small items *evil grin*

Wait til he gets his standalone installed. I saw it and the unit itself just looks mean...

It's not that, I had to give him his space to run. He would go, and I would wait a couple of seconds, and then go. By that time, he was a pretty good distance away. Besides, he was "probably" running more boost than I was too.

yup u can stay with a rx8 stock vs stock. mazda really screwed up their hp ratings on this one...again.

I had a run in with an RX-8, man i was suprised, i was thinking it would smoke me . But he only about about 3 cars on me when we ran from a roll. But when we ran from a stop he was about a car not pulling at all.

If you are referring to a RSX-Type S and a RX8 6speed, this is incorrect...A type S may beat a Automatic RX-8...but the RX-8 6speed still puts down around 188whp average...of course bad driving and other things can make the race results sway, but a lightly equipped RX-8 is about the same weight as a RSX (the RX8 is heavier...but the torque and larger powerband easily make up for it)...whee did that come from? 0-60's on the RSX Type S are average around 1 second slower...

Are you guys sure these are not Auto RX-8's?...I am not saying that a modded MSP could not take a 6speed, in which it could, but my local dealership has sold over 15 automatic RX-8's since it's release...and only two 6 speeds, which would lead me to believe the damn auto's seem to be more popular for some reason...With the performance package the Auto's and 6 speeds are not easily recognizable as different from the outside...

but yeah, Mazda ****** the power ratings again...They still claim 238bhp...and whp ratings have never backed that up, although some blame it on electronic trickery not likeling dyno pulls...
