MSP Vs MSM

Is the New mazdaspeed miata gona own the MSP in auto cross and the in drag racing. I couldn't find any stats on the MSM.
The Miata alone owns the protege 2.0L
The MSM has more power than our cars stock on there specs... We got owned like no other....

I think the miata has been overpriced for a while, but the MXS at $25k base is about right on. You figure if it doesn't sell spectacularly, you could pick one up for like $23k with incentives. However, I think it'll sell really well...its price is right around the 6-speed ls, so this might also be a good year to get a regular miata at a great price, or just step up to the MXS.

The Miata has been selling for right around invoice price since at least late 2001. That's when I got mine. You can currently get $4500 off invoice for a 2003 Miata, or $1500 off invoice for a 2004. I believe that puts the 2003 base model at $17000. Add $600 for the sports suspension package. That's a heck of a deal for a lightweight RWD convertible with a limited slip differential. And $25,500 is not a terrible deal for the same car with almost 40 more HP and a good deal more torque, with a significantly stiffened suspension. It wouldn't have been too tough a decision to spend the extra $2k and get the Mazdaspeed instead of a leather package with the works.

mayn, i wish i knew about the MXS a lot sooner...could've just waited to get it ! bahhh ! but i love this forum :) hehehe i just might trade in my MSP for this car...i miss my old miata and all its intricacies...i'd love to have a miata again.

Yeah, I definatly think the Mazdaspeed Miata will own the MSP, but, as stated by boostisgood, it's like apples and oranges. Each is different. MSP, sedan/sport compact, miata is a roadster. Completely different, but both, so nice.

I'll take the msp, not cuz i have one, but because i like 4 doors, and a trunk. I'd love to own a MSM, but not unless i had my MSP beside it in the garage. Everyone needs groceries you know.

Yes there is such a thing as too big a wheels. The Miata because of its lightweight is very sensitive to increased unsprung weight. This extra weight causes the ride and handling to deteriorate. Larger wheels and tires are generally also heavier. The normally aspirated Miata is also sensitive to increased rotating weight. This increased weight reduces acceleration.

yes...but that's a NA miata...now you have gobs more torque and HP to play with. I'm guessing that this car will be a freakin track monster just like the MSP is...moreso in fact. I do get where you're coming from with the rim size, but I think they're great on the car, and I doubt that the MSX guys and gals would f up the handling with an improper rim. F up the fuel delivery with a poor program I could see, but not the handling. ;)

Whats the stock HP and trq. numbers on a miata and its 1/4
and whats a stock pro run in the 1/4

that's why mazda designed the whole setup ! they got the wheels...recalibrated suspension tuning...and VOILA an extra fine handling miata with nice rims

Apples to Oranges people.

EXACTLY!

First it was the STi and the EVO. Almost double the price!!!! (argue all you want they average 31k+ due to demand around here. I paid 17.2K)

Now a turbo roadster!!!! What do you people expect from this car? Should it die for your sins next?
