Do you belong to B15Sentra.net??? Over there they talk about a recall that should be issued here soon for 02 Spec V's. I can't remember the specific reason, but if you do a search over there you are sure to find it. My husband and I have not had the problems you list. Guess we are lucky with that one. Overall the Spec V isn't a bad car. There are going to be problems with every new experiment by car makers and the Spec V was new in 2002 just like the MSP is for 2003. Really it just depends on what makes you happy!
I am on B15. The recall you mentioned is for the pre cat.

The problem is, about 3 months ago my pre cat broke and the pieces got sucked into the engine so now I am burning oil. The dealer says he'll replace it but they have to wait for Nissan to give them the go ahead.
My situation is this, I have had this car for a little over a year and I have 14K miles on it and it is stock, engine wise. I have spent so many weekends at the dealership for stupid problems along with all the time I have taken of work to go down there to see whats going on. One problem I had, I had to go in the back and help the Tech. fix because he was stomped.
Don't get me wrong, I think Nissan makes good cars and that I propably got a bad one, but I am 31 years old and I have a job were I travel alot. Sometimes my parents drive my car when I am not in town, I cannot ask them to check the oil and put up with other stuff that the car has been doing. I shouldn' t have to, its brand new.
P.S. I was thinking about try to get the 2003.5 MSP. Did Mazda fix or change anything other than the cosmetic stuff.
