MSP re-sale value

nadaguides.com

no its an actual book the dealer gets thats more updated than the online pricing, but they prolly checked online when they didnt have it in their book...its not online yet either...but they come in orange (monthly), black (bi-weekly i believe), and another color for weekly. generally most dealers use the orange, and they can be found at your local bookstore - they are orange with blue lettering (maybe black) and are about 5x7 inches if you are looking for one. bigger dealers use black and the weekly is for really big dealers. even the biggest dealership in western pa for chevys used the bi-weekly, so it would have to be huge to justify weekly subscription.

Yeah, I've seen the pocket nada guides before, they're cool.

My cell phone is a PDA and I have pocket edmunds, which is cool to use against the dealers when used car shopping.

Where the hell are you guys finding MSP's for 15-16K????? Is this the new 3.5 style or the older style? s*** I basically paid that much for my 03 LX!!!

I bought my silver MS2 in Toledo, Ohio, two days ago for $16,074.

Used car prices are depressed right now due to heavy manufacturer incentives. That should change for the better in the next year as the economy picks up.

It seems to me that part of the problem with Mazdaspeed sales has been Mazda's failure to properly market the vehicle. I follow new car introductions to some extent and had never heard of it until I saw one during the summer at a dealer and didn't know what it really was until about 10 days ago. I showed it to a good friend of mine yesterday. He probably knows more about cars than I do and he was quite impressed - he guessed it cost about $24, 000. THAT was precisely the reason I bought it - it seems a tremendous value for the money.

My (fearless) prediction is that as word of the vehicle continues to spread (and with no more being made) its value as a used vehicle will be relatively strong over time.

Interesting... I went to the dealership in town today to see what they would say about the MSPs for 16K in Texas. After a little discussing and him looking up something on his computer he said that the reason they sold them so low is because those cars had been storm damaged. So I figured I wasnt screwed, but now you tell me you bought yours in Ohio for that price, then the dealer must be lying(which I guess is not uncommon). Hmm..

I have to get in on this nice post...

Fist of all , I jsut had a good visit at my EVO dealear ship, get this s*** they gave me 15500 for my freakin car :wtf: man I coulndt bekive it. Which was good cause I only owed 12000 on it so thats a plus, and got an EVO for a grand price of 26890. Any replies? Sorry guys had to leave the MSP.

good s*** dude!
congrats!
i graduate in a year.......maybe, just maybe........if i find a job

Carmax offered me 13,500 for my black 03 with 6k miles. The car is mint in everyway, needless to say i passed on the offer.

Anything below 15k i'd rather keep.

There was one storm damaged car I read about going for $15k but it wasn't in Texas. Hell we haven't had a storm in Texas yet.

All the MSP's here are in perfect shape.

Thanks guys...

I had to jump on the offer I just felt it would be a wiser investment, oh the car had 8333 miles on it. And I got the payments down to 420$ steep I know, but intrest is a MO FO. Plan on killing this loan real quick, just an exaple of the intrest at 5.39% here is my first payment, 312.56 to the car and 107.44 to intrest. Ouch!!

I just went to try and trade my car in on a M3 and the dealership could not find any prices for the car anywhere so they called a used mazda dealer and they said that the car was only worth about 9k or so. needless to say i just stood up and walked out. I owe 17500 on the car still.

I love how they try and screw you after you bought THEIR car.

Wait a month or so and the blue book will be posted. I'm expecting it to be around $15500 trade-in, but that's my guess. Edmunds has it at 16500 for trade-in but they're not as legit.

It's just too early.

what the hell were you doing trading your car in on an M3 when you still owe 17500 dollars!?! But anyway, whoever quoted 9K needs to be fired.

yeh, im lookin to keep my car for at least another year or so.....i turn 21 this sept. so insurance would be less on a nice evo or g35....im enjoyin my car for now thou...plus the nice boost in credit im gettin :) either way i figure a used msp in good condition would get around 15g.....when blue book value is estimated they dont look at what the dealers and mazda did at the end of the production year to sell the msp's....they look at retail and depreciate it from there right? i think the rarity alone would get us a good 15g trade in value and 17-18g private.....right?

New member here in Jax, FL.

Picked up a new silver 03.5 MSP in Orlando for $16.8 (including dealer fee) + TTL on New Year's Day.

Also, that was the last day for factory to dealer cash of $500 in FL.

Worked on deals with dealers 250 miles North, South and West, but that was the best I could come up with around here.

I'm glad you posted this, jaxmsp. It was my understanding when I bought last weekend that the factory to dealer case on the MSP was, in fact, only $500 compared to $1000 on Protege and P5.

Others on the board have claimed it has been $1000. Your post is the first confirmation I have seen about my information (which I believe I got from Edmunds).

The dealer cash is still available. Dealers always try to throw that out there...oh the rebate is going to end at the end of the month --- buy now!

NOT. I sold cars for 8 years. Usually if there is a rebate or dealer cash on a car, it stays throughout the year and only gets bigger. The MSP still has $2500 rebate, $500 dealer cash and $500 college cash.

Making it able to buy the car for $15,968

Thanks, Glhboy. Perhaps others have simply combined the college cash with the regular $500 to get the $1000 total.

My college days ended in 1980 so that thought didn't register with me.
