MSP or Mazda 6 ??????

Apples & Oranges

Car & Driver has the test numbers. The 6s does 0-60 in 6.8 seconds while the MSP ran it in 6.5. The MSP runs the quarter in 15.3 at 94 mph, while the 6s does it in 15.4 at 93. The MSP already has the suspension tuned, but the 6s doesn't. The V6 probably has more potential, but where are you gonna get the mods for it now? Particularly, the suspension mods?

it depends how you mod it..
there's alot you can do with both of them.
But there's probably more aftermarket available for the Protege, since it's been in alot of the import scene.
Mazda 6 is still very new in the market, heck, the car hasn't even been released yet, so who knows what kind of aftermarket parts we'll be looking at.;)

Which one would be Faster when modded ???

What do they both run in the 1/4 ??

Thanks guys

Well According to Caranddriver they have tested both cars:

mazda6S got a:

0-60mph 6.8sec
1/4mile 15.4@93mph

Mazdaspeed protege got a:

0-60mph 6.9sec
1/4mile 15.4sec@93.2mph

Motortrend got:

Mazda6S got a :

0-60mph 7.0sec
1/4mile N/A

Mazdaspeed protege Got a:

0-60mph 6.5sec
1/4mile 14.9sec@93mph

So it kinda depends on what you mod from. for example if you add headers, CAI, exhaust, chip to the mazda6s you might gain 15-25horses off the mods from the S-VT V-6 motor.

But if you mod the MS-P with a boost controller, bigger injectors, bigger intercooler, 3"downpipe, filter, bov. you might gain around 35-40 horses more, cause your adding parts to a car that is turbocharged not N/A.

Uhh, triple-post? Delete 2 of those, please.

You guys are all missing one important point: The 6s is easily $6k more than a Mazdaspeed Protege. You really should compare it to the 4-cylinder 6i, which would cost about the same.

My take is, you can get a base 6 for the same as the top-of-the-line Protege. The 6i has more potential because it's not sporty at all to begin with. It doesn't have a sport suspension, big wheels/tires or anything like that. It would be a great platform to build a car on, since it has the 2.3L instead of the Protege's 2.0L, but you could basically re-do the entire suspension, engine, add a turbo, new wheels, tires, interior, stereo, etc. all to get ahead of where the Mazdaspeed Protege starts.

I am first on the list for the MazdaSpeed6 at my dealer, that should give me about 2 years to enjoy my MSP, oh wait I don't have my MSP yet, make that 2 1/2 years.
