MSP, MSP No more

Well, as much as i love my MSP. I finally sold my 4runner for 11,000. I could put this money down to pay off my mazdaspeed but not really worried about that. Instead i think im going to get a different engine for it. I got a few in mind but not sure what i want to drop in it yet. Any suggestions

BTW, i would just mod it but. Im eventually going to do it anyway. So why not just go all out on this car. I love the way it looks and I just like people to underestimate what the car can really do until they see whats under the hood

what other engine would you put in it?
this isnt some honda where you can just find some random Integra and rip its engine out

I dont think you can realy find anything that will fit in its place,
then engine is really good,
the only thing realy holding all of us back is the ECU,
just get Spoolin's FMIC kit, some forged internals, boost controller, and have fun

Get a VW 1.8T (AWW engine code or newer, which would be a 2001 or later model)

This engine was built to be turbocharged. The Stage 3 Turbo Upgrade from APR (Audi Performance Racing, goapr.com) provides 290HP and ungodly amounts of torque without any any internal strengthening required. You will get more low end power from a 1.8T then any Japanese engine that will fit into our engine bays.

My only advice, the iginition coils in the 1.8T's have a tendency to fail (there was a recent recall on them, but only if they fail), so I would replace them with aftermarket ones if they are available, but the rest of the engine is badass.

what??? are you kidding man or what!! i cant believe you are even posting this. we HAVE A MAZDA!!!!!!!!!!!!
come on man. this is a rediculous post im sorry. im not trying to be mean but i give everyone the benefit of the doubt but this is just a plainly idiotic suggestion.

anyway dude why are you trying to swap motors??
theres no need. go with forged internals and youll be fine.
if you really need to swap to make yourself happy go with the 1.8 motor from the older pro's
great bottom end from the factory.

damn im sorry for getting upset but damn man think alittle !;)

yeah, I was just about to post somthing similar
and why would you want to give yourself more work?

CH talked about the engine from the kia sportage can work with our protege's with some modifications. It has all forged internals and is built for boost.

Sorry, I forgot that we have Mazda's and therefore nothing else out there could perform better or be more modifiable.

Who's being ridiculous now. The thread asked for suggestions and I provided one.

At least I didn't suggest putting in an older/smaller Mazda engine.

Edit: Decided I didn't need to lose my cool, hope nobody quotes my previous post.

My other suggestion would be to trade in the MSP and build yourself a Monster Miata like I read about in the car mags years ago. A dimunitive little Miata with a Ford V8 under the hood.... who would expect that!

I'm done, so the Yellow P5 guys can go ahead and jump on me again.

me i would believe it because i have built one. your talking apples and oranges dipshit!
the availability of a rear and rx7 suspension was there.
minor mods to a driveshaft and you were in buisness.
i have heard of some s*** before but your a moron.
now im done. sorry all for losing my composure:D

So uh, where did it say that it has to be a Mazda engine in a Mazda car?

Why am I a moron for suggesting he build a Monster Miata if he's looking for an unassuming badass car?

I don't really understand why you are PMSing so much here. The thread asked for speculation.

perfworks you couldnt be more correct

MickeyG_U2 suggested somthing that would be realy dumb, and not to mention take so much time money and effort that it would not be worth it to even think about

the only advantage with the KIA engine is that its all cast Iron, no aluminum at all

The Kia engine you are talking about is a BP, isn't it? Same as first gen DOHCs and 2nd gen 1.8s?

im in a better mood now so i will leave you alone.
maybe you dont know what you are talking about because of ignorance. so i will excuse you for that and will ignore your comments. if you dont know something ask or just dont post things that are out in left field.
sorry if i hurt your feelings or made you upset but man you really dont know your car and need to really think before you post some thing ludicris like that.

its the 2.0 out of the sportage I think
yeah its a 2.0 but i think ( dont qoute me) it wont bolt up to our trannys without mods to the bell housing or block
i dont know to much about it though. the 1.8's that chastan is talking about is a great engine with a ton of potential because it was built on a platform for boost for the miata.

It was meant to be a suggestion from left field. When it comes to the Mazda world, yes I am ignorant, this is my first one. However engine swaps aren't usually small operations, so I went with a no-limits scenario. I wasn't expecting the verbal raping however.

its just somthing nobody would ever do, thats all
he was asking for a logical solution

you have come to the best place to learn about the MSP and the Protege line, please take some time to read and soak in some of the wonderful car knowlage that is stored within this sight

then come back and post a logical solution

why not just drop in a 13B, convert to rear wheel drive?

The MSP is already modded. if you want full mod potential buy an ES and do that. slap on a BEGI kit, suspension and what not. or get a crate FSZE straight from Japan.
