MSP Modded Kartboy Shifter...Does anyone on this board actually have one installed?

Sorry to be a pain in the ass mod, but we are trying to clean up all the forums to make it easier to search for items, and less cluttered. In the future, please post in the appropriate forum...example - Intakes, dispite being for the Mazdaspeed, belong in the performance section. Buying a carbon fiber hood for your Mazdaspeed belongs in the Appearance section. If you raced someone in your Mazdaspeed it still belongs in the Racing/Motorsports section. If you have any questions, comments, or complaints, feel free to PM me at any time.

Thanks again for your patience as we clear up the forums to make it better for you!

sorry, this belongs in the performance section....

Not to be complete A$$ ,but this is in the right section!
This question is directly aimed at the MSP and for the MSP people to see. This is not a general shifter question but rather a question directly relating to the MSP.If you don't like where I put my question then tough!
Not to be an A$$ again, but you don't even own a MSP so please,if you don't have any useful info please don't post.

As for my original question?
No one on here has a Kartboy shifter with the proper threads and length on the threaded shaft for the MSP?
Matt;)

Just get a real short shifter from TWM, it actually shortens the throw by 50%.

Well mr Kenetix,The TWM shifter actually shortens throw on a regular pro by 45% for the first gen and 50% on the second gen shifters. This is also numbers for a regular pro and not the MSP.
The shift throw on the MSP is already reduced slightly so these numbers are not accurate for the MSP.
Matt;)

BTW,I have already been in contact with TWM directly to see if they will make a MSP specific shifter for our applications. They sent me back an e-mail reply that I cannot open because I do not have microsoft office 2000 on my computer at home so I will have to look at it at work on tues. morn.Hopefully it is good news for us MSP owners who would like a specific shifter for our cars!

Twenty percent? What does that mean? Where are they getting that number? Really, who cares?

Do yourself a favor and save a few bucks. First, cut the stock shift lever down by about 1/2 inch (or more), then retap the shift lever. This will bring down the shift knob (which is what the Kartboy lever is doing). This little cheap move should shorten your shift travel.

Well I got one word for you?
MORON!

And there is a little more to a shifter than the reduced throw it provides.A properly made shifter will not only shorten the throw but it will put the shifter in a more usable position relating to the driver.Combine this with a nice poly shift bushing and you will have a noticably nicer shift sequence.
Oh ,and if you try to cut the stock MSP shifter down you will do absolutely nothing as the threaded portion is the perfect length to accept the Sparco Knob!If I were to cut the shifter down,it would be exactly the same minus some of the threaded shaft inside!
Once again,If you don't have any productive answer,KEPP IT TO YOURSELF!
MORON!

Force, I don't understand what you mean with an "MSP specific shifter" ... do you mean one that will accept the stock shift knob? If I'm not mistaken, that shift knob is threaded, but also universal. You'd just need the little bolts to fasten it to the new shifter.

I've got Office XP here ... PM me and I'll give you my email and resave it so that you can read it before Tuesday if ya want.

Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd try and shed a little light on the situation. Although the thread pattern is different between the P5 and the MSP the more important difference is the overall length of the shift knob. The MSP shift knob will sit too high because of the "step" that holds up the shift boot. The same issue was apparent with MP3 as it also had a longer shift knob.

It was specifically for this reason that we designed a separate shifter for the MP3, so that you could still use your stock shift knob. For MSP owners the safest bet would be to go with our MP3 shifter since it has more room above the step. I can't comment on weather the thread patter is the same on the MSP but as someone else mentioned, you can always lock it down with the set screws at the base of the shifter.

We are looking for a MSP to test our shifter in to be sure but just based on customer experiences it appears as though our MP3 shifter will fit.

Hope I was of some help,

Karel

I'm increasingly impressed with nmaino with every post he makes. First it was the big "don't waste your money on a greddy gauge even though I have one" and now it's this technological breakthrough on short shifters.

(2thumbs) Right on there, Speed Racer.

So since you dont like his opinion you have to give yours on his. Do you have to turn everything into ragging on someone for what they have to say. No one cares...... plain and simple shut up.
