All for a 45mph slight slap into a tree sideways on ice..

Im just kinda ranting over 9700.. thats just amazing. i figuered 1200-2500 but theres some major frame damage that you can see under the car

i agree 9k sounds high, but its hard to say without looking inside the engine and under the car.
however i find that many body shops are willing to negotiate.
ie

1) you can ask to get the car totalled if you want
2) you can get multiple estimates (or not but say you did) and they will match if threatened
3) they can make the original estimate low when dealing with insurance and then file addendums saying there was additional damage found, so they get more money than what would be totalled and you get your should-have-been totalled car back.

depending on what you are looking to do (new car or fixed) talk to the guy and see if he can help

oh, and if you find its mostly cosmetic, can do it yourself, or are able to get aftermarket stuff for cheaper. usually it only applies (at least in Mass.) if you own your car, you can get a check to fix it yourself.

my brother got tboned in his s2k, bent the frame and now the right side is an inch and a half shorter than the left. hes doing a ttoooonnn of work fixing it himself. this is prolly similar to your case with the estimates being so high.

Yeah, Lost my job right after i bought it,so car payments have been speratic,

I will get better pics up to show the damage. Everything looks Cosmetic but there is some HEAVY hidden frame damage, Atleast 2 areas of a major crumpled frame

I have the motor, trans and drive axles from this car in my garage. I won't be racing my MSP anymore after this weekend, so I don't think I need the spares taking up space in the shop. Shipping would be expensive though.
