jmv said:well its hard to make a coherent statement out of that, but it seems as though you're suggesting that the protegefaq indicates a different gearing for the MSP vs. a regular protege.... it certainly does not. The G15M-R 5-speed transmission used in the FS-DE, the FS-DET (our mazdaspeed), and the FS-ZE (japans mazdaspeed version), are ALL the same.
Thanks for pointing out that SR sells alternate gear sets and j-spec cams i guess?? I don't understand the point for posting any of that.
MSP608 said:umm incase you couldnt tell we were poking fun at you bc you obviously dont know what youre talking about. and also, congrats on the fact you know how to copy paste.....why the hell would i want tenzo products on my car??
magnumP5 said:Ok, first of all I believe you are confusing Mazdaspeed with MPS - Mazda Performace Series. All those parts you just listed from SRMotorsports are either bulls*** (look up SRMotorsports and you'll see what I mean) or they come from the Protege MPS which was N/A in Japan and it's been around for a while. I mean just because one website says "Mazdaspeed this" and "Mazdaspeed that" does not mean these all come stock on the Mazdaspeed Protege. For example, you posted high compression pistons, why the hell would you want a 10:1 compression ration on a turbocharged motor?! Another thing, those camshafts you all so nicely copied and pasted are either bulls*** (again) or they came off the FSZE - an N/A motor...
I just don't see how you can argue that it's a different engine setup when there are members here who have had this car since they came out (not me, but I've read a hell of a lot) who say otherwise. Where the hell is TheMan anyway, he'd clear this up.
Either way, you need to stop copy-and-pasting info that makes you look correct. Just because it says Mazdaspeed or MPS does not mean it is the same motor or model that was sold in the U.S. in 2003 under the name of Mazdaspeed Protege. Sheesh...
Just because VW's can handle high-compression pistons FI doesn't mean the Proteges can. Due a search for Bigwoofer - he had forged high compression pistons (he was initially going N/A, but ended up turboing) and he blew his motor. And as far as SR's credit? DO a search for Mazdaspeed "Green" struts. I believe a member here purchased these only to find out they were regulay KYB stock replacement struts, they did not match the picture on the site. That's pretty bad business practice to me. And by they way, about every part listed for the Protege on SR's site is rebadged and marked WAY up. The only reputable products they have are the adjustable cam gears and they're like $500 and were probably copies of the old Tri-point gears.speed whiz said:Well vw gti Mk V's have more than 10.1 they have 10.3:1 TURBO CHARGED from the factory and if you haven't experimented with the SR cams how can u talk explain!

OK....just to add in on a few quotes here.....yes you can run a turbo motor at 10.3 : 1 compression. We have done it with the race motor. However, you better have a very good programmable ECU and the best of tuners as well to make it work or you will melt those pistons down in a flash!Kansei said:heat shield ftw?

Looks good. I actually have a heat shield powdercoated satin black courtesy of yashartMP3. I just haven't put it on yet because I don't have any bolts for it. Anyone know the width, pitch, length of these bolts?Kansei said:heat shield ftw?

You seriously need to gget your s*** together dude if you want to come here and tell several Protege experts they're wrong. I'd be hard pressed to find someone more knowledgeable the MP3Racer. Hell, I even have the specs of both the FSDE and the FSDET (courtesy of protegefaq) if you want to compare numbers.
Anyhow, I'm done crapping on this thread. Indeed, any more progress on the manifolds - I'd like something better looking than the ugly stock log.

speed whiz said:how long have you been running 18.6 and how many miles are on your car
CitizenPro said:Boosting 26 & holding 18??
I can see u max'n out at 18psi, but spiking 26 (if thats what your saying) is hard to believe on the stock GT25. And why are u boosting 18 on the stock turbo?? Your not gaining anymore performance out of it even if you were at 16.....thats wayyyyy past its efficiency range. Blowwin hot air my friend, i think its time for the Nick Upgrade or a totally different turbo. My .02
