Used Mazda? In the market…

I'm thinking about buying a used Mazda for commuting to work. I travel 100 miles roundtrip everyday. Which model would you suggest? I also need a model with awd.

Thanks!

I mean not to dampen the Mazda enthusiasm but is that a lot of highway driving? Mazdas aren't known for a relaxing and comfortable nature. Something like a older 2016-2017 Lexus ES350 or 2019-2021 Toyota Avalon Hybrid would be more suited to putting in relaxing highway miles. The closest thing would be looking at a 2018-2021 Mazda 6 Turbo Signature Edition. That'd be as comfortable long-distance driver you can get in Mazda Land. Or a new CX-90 or CX-70 Hybrids AWD if you're looking at new cars? If you really need AWD the later build AWD Subaru Legacy XT's are pretty nice too? So many options...

Whats your price? How many miles on a used car? New car? Why do you want AWD? If you're really in the market id highly suggest finding a late local CarMax and taking a day to drive 4-5 different cars/suv's. (With your wife/partner) Take notes for each test drive. I've had good experiences with CarMax as they aren't really pushy because the pricing is the price (yes you do pay more) but their inventory is usually pretty new and clean.

100 miles round trip? I love my turbo CX-5 but it wouldn’t be practical for that compared to other vehicles. A Mazda3 AWD would be nice but it would be pure commuter to me. Backseat is too tight imo to regularly have my kids in the back. The 6 is a ton of fun to drive with the turbo, I’d consider that too if you need more room for passengers.

I’d personally explore the latest generation Prius. I test drove one after my ‘13 CX-5 was totaled. My 23’ CX-5 Turbo had the height, fun factor, and the utility of an SUV so it won out when I was shopping. Wasn’t driving much before we had to return to the office but my round trip is about 45 miles. 100 mile round trip though, I’d have gone with the Prius. Awesome gas mileage (about 50 mpg for AWD option) with 0-60 time of 7 seconds. Same problem for rear passengers as a Mazda3 though, ceiling is even lower if I remember right.
