Just wanted to make sure everyone here knows that TWM has a short shifter for the MS6 available. They are taking pre-orders with shipping scheduled to start on 28 Feb. Price is discounted from what it will be once the pre-order period is over. Check their site for more info. I ordered mine with the bushings and I can't wait to get it in.

All I know is I see a drill bit in the picture and that worries me. I didn't think you had to make any modifications to install a short shifter.

Can you go back to the stock shifter? I saw the a drill bit was included with the TWM, so I didn't know if you had to enlarge a couple of bolt holes or something making the holes too large to install the stock one back on.
By the way, Great work TWM, looks really good.
Another mod I want!

The stock shifter can be re-installed very easily. There is one hole to drill in a 1/8" steel plate to secure the TWM shifter plate, but this in no way affects the ability to re-install the stock shifter. In fact, re-installing the stock shifter would just be a matter of removing the console, unscrewing 2 bolts, tapping out a pin, dropping in the stock shifter, re-installing the pin and replacing the console. Very straight forward... I'll try to get the install manual up by Wednesday so the steps are more clear.

As noted in my fist post, I have one on order. It will be put in as soon as I receive it (should be first part of March). I'll let everyone know what I think.

ok guys , so i just got back home from TWM , i went to pick up my car so i can test the short shifter!!!

First let me tell you that THIS IS A MUST!!!!

changing gear is so precise , every gear goes in so nice and it is so much shorter !! cant wait for the races to start to really try it out...
it is really 35% let me tell you that.

once engage in gear the shifter doesnt move left or right its stays in place , when you press the gaz pedal it doesnt go backward. it is just amazing !! its been 20 min im driving with it and i love it..

i had a short shifter in my RX-7 , in my protege 5 turbo but none of them was even close to that short shifter :drive:

it is NOTHING compare to stock not even close :nono:

and for the price it will be very very worth it!! ill let kevin from TWM give you guys all the details on that!! his nick name is TWM on the site send him a pm :yesnod

oooo i hate short shifters...they're awesome for a while, but internally they can screw up your trannies...reason being, because of the short throw. but it can easily be fixed by YOU! you shift pretty normal speed when its the stock shift, when you shift at a pretty normal speed with a short shifter, its like shifting fast with your stock shifter, countless posts and threads on other forums have said that tho you dont realize it it actually does wear down the internal trans parts a lot faster. basically just shift slowly unless your racing...

Short shifters work on the principle of changing a lever's length through moving the pivot point. Even though you are moving the knob end of the lever a shorter distance the transmission end moves the same amount. You are still disconnecting the transmission from the engine with the clutch, if you were shifting too fast then the gears wouldn't allow you to engage the next gear. I could see possible accelerated wear occuring if you are slamming from one gear to the next (no matter what kind of shifter you have), but I don't see many people doing that. Based upon what I know of engineering I don't buy a short shifter causing any more damage than a normal one. As the old saying goes, don't believe everything you read.

Im gonna pre order also. I don't really like the knobs they offer though, do you know if the stock knob will fit on this SS?

I can't find it right now but I swear that I read on the TWM site that all their shifters are designed to be able to re-use the stock knob. I'll look again later when I have more time.
