03.5 mazdaspeed protege
i love the power of the ms3, but i think mazda can make a nicer mazdaspeed sedan for some reason i dont really like the look of the hatch. what does everyone else think? maybe they'll come out with an 07.5, that would be nice!!

why bother? would be cheaper to buy aftermarket parts and mod it that way and probably would fit better too

why not? people swapped the turbo setup from the msp into a p5 even though there were hiboost, begi, spool, etc. kits on the market.

why wouldnt it happen?? wouldnt be hard to do, plus i think it would look ALOT better!

my turbo setup referenced the protege, not the mazda3.

exactly, you said people were able to put the msp s*** on a P5... but that's the protege, and not the 3... just because the motors are the same between the msp and P5, doesn't make it so on the ms3! and that's already obvious

I'd like to see the price tag just for the motor? I bet it would be a lot... As for the hatch haters the cars had no problem selling so if you don't want one don't buy one. I love mine and get compliments all the time!!!

please dont make this into ANOTHER sedan vs. hatch thread... if you wanna talk about the swap go ahead, but if it turns into a flame war, im gonna have to close it

yeah you would need an engine swat/ecu/fuel delivery/tranny/ and prob some other stuff i am leaving out but imo those are the money items... direct injection is great but you won't be able to easily set the same setup up in a regular model...

if you look into the ms3 motor, no more timign belt, dont know if all the 2.3 are that way, but i guess the turbo ones are chains now, they showed it ot me at hte dealer, and it was weird, how long had it been since a 4 banger had a timing chai on a dohc motor?

plus in article it said to fit the 2.3 tirbo motor in the mazda 3 they had to rework the engine bay and make it wider ot fir the motor, i think the firewall was pushed back for one so behind the dash area was reworked.
apparntly its not a direct swap fabrication work is involved,

a sedan woudl look good as a speed 3
but i think the sales were int he hatches and the built it for what sells.

Need to do all this things!

First you need to change the hood, since the intercooler wont let the regular hood close. The New hood has an extra inch or so bump in the middle. The you have to change the from fenders as they are wider than the regular 3. The you have to change the front radiator support at it is wider and further out front than the regular 3. and so on. I guess you are better buying a MS3 as a whole.
