Just picked up our new MS3 GT and the drivers door panel rattles, which kills the otherwise good sound. Anyone else have this problem and is it an easy fix or I need a dealer tech to screw the job up?

i duno...my passenger side vibs when the bass hits sometimes...on the drivers side i always have a cd case so i never heard rattling

I would make the dealer do it first so it is on record as being a problem. After that if it comes back, you have an excuse to take the panels off, apply some dynamat (or your own favorite) and upgrade the speakers since you have the panels off anyway...(shady)

Buy some sound deadening from edead from edesignaudio, along with ensolate from RAAMaudio and go to town on your car. It will signifcantly reduce your rattles and exterior wind noise! I have this combination in my car and love it!

So Kevotc, where did you put this stuff? On the inside of the door skin? Probably, unlike the rest of members here I wouldn't mind quieting the car interior down some if it doesn't add too much weight. And yiou say it made a noticable difference.

As for my rattle, I'm pretty sure something is loose, mosty likely the door panel missing a scrw near the speaker mount or something. I have the Bose option so it can get pretty thumpy if I want it to.

i would take it to the dealership first

to properly sound deaden a door you should use 3 layers of sound deadening. one on the outside door skin and then one on each side of the inner molding and then a layer of ensolite on the inside of the door panel itself. this would clear up anything you have that wasn't a loose screw (of course check all hardware while you are in there as well as the window regulator screws as those were famous for coming loose on the regular 3, it would make a popping noise when you put your window up after it was down for a while)

good luck

i recomend raammat http://www.raamaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi you have to order from thier website but it is as good or better then the highend dynomat and its much cheaper even with shipping.

Not sure if this happens to anyone else but I notice my door handle is what vibrates and makes noise in my car. When the windows are rolled down and I have the stereo pumping, the handle can sometimes make noise like crazy. I have tested this by holding on to it for a few seconds and yup, it's the door handle. For a while, I thought it was the actual door panel.

You have may have a totally different issue but that was my experience. If it is the door, insulate it and knock out two birds with one stone.

I think I have the same rattle but I don't feel like ever taking my car to the dealer after my 3+ hour oil change. lol Think i will tackle this one once it warms up. Almost sounds like the speaker is blown. Very annoying.

my 04 3 did the same thing, i have had the panels off nothing is loose, just put some dynamat or what ever you perfer behind it and its ok...

taken mine in 4 times for this issue and still the problem has not been resolved they replaced the door handles panels and tightened some actuator Im assuming for the power windows . They would rather replace parts and waste money and man hours instead of resolving the issue with sound deadening . I've even requested every time for them to just sound deaden the door and expressed my opinion of their wastefulness and they just still don't get it. (dunno) Oh yeah and last time when they replaced the panel they manged to put a small dent in my passengers door right above the door handle and scratch the glove box . Needless to say I drove it right back in the service bay and demanded they fix the dent, scratch and that the door still rattled . they fixed the dent and scratch and did not do anything about the rattle.

And that's why I try to stay away from dealer mechanics. You take in one little thing and what they do just escalates the situation.

I was hoping I could handle it myself and once it warms up a bit I guess I'll do some exploratory poking around.

I'm in desperate need of new tweeters in my 3 month old MS3.. Sounds like anus when Bass is 0 or more.

Mines in the Pass Side door Handle also, wonder if we sprayed some spray expanding foam in there if we could get it to stop. Maybe fill it with Hot Glue or something like that?

I had the same problem in my passenger side door, any time the midbass was hitting heavy, there would be an annoying rattling inside the door. If I pushed on the door handle, it would go away. I tried adding deadener inside the door panel, but that didn't really help.

What finally fixed it was to take some 3/4" closed cell foam weather strpping, cut it into 1.5-2" pieces, and apply it around the door lock/opening lever area. Then I took a couple more pieces and shoved them underneath the connecting cables for the lock/opening lever. No more rattling.

its not the door panel.... when it happend to me i swore it was the door so i took the door apart and put foam in places i thought that rattle but after i put it all together is still rattled, drove me crazy... so one day my friend was getting mad cause of the noise so he started look and trying to find out were it was coming from so he noticed it was coming from under the seat like in the sub box so today i took the sub box out and took it apart and there was over $2 in change in it lol after i put it all back together and drove all my rattling was gone and its peicefull again

the change falls in from the center console side of the seat where the port is on the sub box its like a funnel and catches everything from your passengers pockets.
