MS3 Exhaust

What is the part of the exhaust called between the two arrows? I am getting a 2010 MS3 and want it louder. I was thinking if removing the first 2 resonators but then i thought about it and dont want to cut a new exhaust. So i am looking for an alternative to cutting and welding in a straight pipe. That i can take off any time. It looks like that piece has no cats just the 2 resonators and the muffler. Also where can i find a pipe to replace it. Also is the 1st gen and 2nd gen exhaust the same, beside the muffler?

That would be your CBE. If you include the muffler section that is... The easiest thing to do would just be to get an aftermarket CBE. If you really don't want to spend the money, maybe you could invest in a new flange with a downturn outlet for track days... effectively eliminating your CBE. I suppose if you really wanted it your way you could have an exhaust shop custom mandrel bend a piece that fits in between your arrows and can be interchanged with the stock pipe via some custom flanges. But keep in mind that the 2010 MS3 only has one resonator, identical to the one on the 07-09 MS3, closest to the secondary cat. So removing it won't make that big of a difference.

Another alternative would be to get a DP/TP combo or just one of the two. This adds a great bump in power along with a deeper, louder sound.

except i dont know which shop would do that. i am in the schaumburg area. and which part is the test pipe

Exhaust works in Naperville/Aurora, and other exhaust specialty shops in the area would do it. They did my reso delete and it is fantastic. The test pipe is the thing right to the right of your right arrow. When you get a test pipe it replaces your secondary catalyst. A downpipe bolts off of the turbo and down to the test pipe and replaces your primary catalyst. Doing both can give gains of around (shot in the dark here) 30 WHP. They also deepen up the exhaust note. I would do this before hacking up your stock CBE for sound.

hrm... I'm not good with pricing things... but you'd probably just want to get the resonator (remember there's only one on 2010+ MS3s) taken out and have a straight pipe flanged in so you can swap back and forth. Might be about 50-100 dollars depending on where you look. But you can snag a test pipe for 100 (if the 07-09 ones bolt right up) and bolt that in or out at your convenience and get a nice 10-15 WHP bump while your at it.

so should i just leave the exhaust as-is and just get a test pipe? that will delete the 2nd cat right?

do you have boner in this pic.?

The MS3 exhaust (at least the pre-2010 ones) go:

Turbo -> Downpipe (1 cat) -> Midpipe (1 cat) -> Cat-Back Section

Cat back section consists of:

Resonator 1 -> Resonator 2 -> Muffler -> Tip

Well, the 2010 exhaust might be different...actually, I'm pretty sure it is (isn't it dual exhaust?). But in any case, it will most likely be split into Downpipe, "midpipe", and cat-back sections

2010 Exhaust is a DP/TP/CBE much like the 07-09, but the CBE is different. There is one resonator and a chambered muffler with dual outlets.
