MPI Tuner Library

yeah.

I now have another problem (maybe).

I installed the MPI tuner and skipped #16. I connected to the red/white wire as described in step #19. I have 5v. to this wire with the key on. When trying to crank the car it will not. It's either the turbo module or the pcm clicking when trying.

I have not hoked up the laptop to it yet....I'm wondering if this would be normal for the first install and not talking to the MPI yet? If not I suppose I screwed up somewhere.....

Maybe you sliced the wrong wire. There are 2 wires that are near identical, one is red with white tracer and the other is white with red tracer....

And if you kept the Key ON, maybe the coils are dead...

check that step carefully.

I have the older TM so mine may be different. On my instructions, step 16 is the red wire to pin 80 and step 19 is the blue wire on the TM to the fuel pump wire.

I did not have an issue with Acrobat, it was with another program I used for work. Try to get Adode 5.0, that's what I have and I don't have any issues. Where did you install the MPI_TUNER directory? I had an issue a long time ago when I put it on another partition. I removed EVERYTHING that involves the MPI and re-installed it into the default directory and it was fine after that.

Also, until you are sure you have it hooked up correct, do not leave the key on with the engine not running. You may burn the coils up if it is not hooked up right.

I used the red wire w/ white tracer.

Its running now.....and I didn't change anything....Was checking voltage again and went to crank and it fired up.

I then disconnected the battery and reconnected it. I tried starting it again and it did the same thing. It took 8 times of turning the key to crank position before it actually started cranking.

I re-connected the coils and it started right up.......

I'm going to get my laptop right now (driving the back up car....the Scamp lol.) I'm gonna have it towed to my work so I can see whats going on using the wds. I'm pretty sure I wired it right, but I'm gonna check again to make sure.

It's running very well. Except now the fuel cut. Should I set the max. down to like 4.96? Maybe it jumped up too hard that it skipped past the max. ?

yeah, take it down to 4.9X. mine was set @ 5.01 and the fuel cuts were amazing!!! plus some bad wiring were all my problems, now everything runs fine.

The only problems I see is...if my laptop turns off accidentally (no battery) and the MPI was running, it gets corrupted and all the tunning is gone.

Do you have it yet?? If not, PM me with an email address to send it too. The TM will let you add more fuel via the stock injectors, you won't need the xtra ones as much, and send it into open loop sooner. I think it did help considerably, so it may be worth it.

pm sent.....thanks
where do i get the turbo module?? from nick??

Okay I'm now down to 4.62v to avoid fuel cut under NORMAL driving, it still cuts above 4800 when loading the engine.

Are you sure it's fuel cut and not that you have too much fuel added? When you get a surge of too much fuel, it will feel like fuel cut. What A/F ratio are you when you feel the cut?

Never mind, I just saw it in the other thread. Got a datalog?

505 should have something similar to you. If not, try Focus, he's done a few up in Canada.
