I will be getting the MPI tuner with my kit. I can't wait!

here's an old pic of how big it is.MackDadam said:Nick,
do you have aolim or some other way of contact other than on here? how big is this mpi tuner, where is it placed, and do i tell you the specs i want before and you tune it that way or do they all come the same way?
MPNick said:I have had some people ask about the timing control. If your are driving the coils with the MPI Tuner you have complete control of the timing. If you type in -7 you have -7. If you type in 12 you have 12. It is a one to one when you drive the coils.
Hope this clears up any questions.
Thanks again

Yes if you set it at -2 and the stock timing at that point is 24 you would now have 22 total. Also if you look at the sreen shot you will also see that we have boost retard in the amp scale. This will also retard the timing even more under boost. As the boost goes up the timing retard goes up.igdrasil said:Thanks, that clears me up. For example if you have -2 on 4750rpms in a given load and the current stock timing @ that rpm is 24 then you have 22.
right?
When the car is running at idle the red box is near the bottom of the Ign AMP scale. As you build boost it will climb to the top of the AMP scales. You can calibrate the AMP scales for your car. You set the min and max of the scale.igdrasil said:Good, but, how the MPI know how much boost is going in. I mean, in that table, what imput uses the MPI to know where is it in the AMP scale in regards to the current boost?.
I would stick to the MAF. It is a better way to tune.igdrasil said:I want to do the MAP tunning.
I ask the people that make the units for me.Kooldino said:igdrasil - whatever is hooked up to that wire is what will tell it. Typically the MAF. In my case, it's a MAP sensor.
MPNick - when did you figure out the timing madness? How'd you come to that conclusion?

But -7 what? What is the unit for the number? Is it degrees? As in 7 degrees retard?MPNick said:I have had some people ask about the timing control. If you have -7 it means you are now -7 degrees of timing over the stock curve at that map point.DooMer_MP3 said:But -7 what? What is the unit for the number? Is it degrees? As in 7 degrees retard?
THanks!
Chris
Well, technically it would be "under" the curve, right? Since you're retarding timing?MPNick said:If you have -7 it means you are now -7 degrees of timing over the stock curve at that map point.

Have you NOTHING better to do?Kooldino said:Well, technically it would be "under" the curve, right? Since you're retarding timing?
