MPI Tuner Anyone?

If you have -7 it means you are now -7 degrees of timing over the stock curve at that map point.

Thanks again

Later...........Nick
Also if you look in the manual it tells you exactly what Nick is telling you.

I notice at 1-2 PSI dialed in with the MPI Tuner, I was pulling like when I was 6 PSI before the MPI Tuner. (eekdance)

Are you serious? (boom01)

That's awesome.

(thinking)

I notice the same thing. When I was running 7psi just after the mpi install, it felt like I was running 10.

Yep, definitely works better. . .but I would say that would be any "decent" fuel control above a FMU or RRFPR or whatever you want to call it.

I call mine the UFO under the hood.

(lol)

But my little computer in the glove box will beat your UFO under the hood. That's my point. . .anyone with a FMU will be happier with a different fuel system, they just work "better", but they also require considerably more tinkering in terms of tuning them (so trade off). Both do the job though and I think you can do a little mod to make the fmu work even better too.

Yeah!

I do notice that on 1 or 2 psi theres no difference at all than 0vac, and thats because the small rise on fuel pressure not being enough, plus the lag on ECU calculations and stuff.

Im very anxious to have this working already! Im going to use Beavis Map as my base map.

I also still have my RRFPR installed, and turned all the way down. The highest the fuel pressure has gone so far is 52 PSI.

hey i tried to read all 600 or whatever replies, trust me, but im strugglin lol.

im going to be getting the mpi tuner very shortly. basically, my two main questions though really kinda one is - will this tuner allow you to run the same boost level regardless of whether 93 octane is available as opposed to 91 (as in CA when i live there for a year) and if you could run it the same boost level at say 4600ft above sea level and 900ft above sea level (difference between ft. sill, ok and ft. huachuca, az)?

i was going to start a new thread but then i figured perfmoron would jump in and try to discredit the mpi tuner once again by calling everyone pussies and fags and other dumb s***.

i know im a little noobish to the tuning aspect of these cars so explain to me like im an idiot without making me feel like one :D

As far as the gas goes, I am really not too sure...You will probably just have to tune a tiny bit differently for the lower octane, and load that map when you are going to be running that gas.

The altitude problem is one that is found when you tune with a Pressure sensing device, or a MAP sensor...Tuning with a MAF will not be effected by the change in altitude

Thats why you can have different maps you can save them with names like:

10psi low octane
9psi 93octane
12psi race track

I dont know, you name it.

so these maps save right to the hard drive? so you could have say a map for better emissions, a map for track use (pushing the car close to the limit), and a daily driver map? sounds great. im just PEEVED to have my speed capabilities dictated by some morons who decided after supply and demand that 93 octane wasnt necessary in CA and also that just because im living in sierra vista arizona for four months means i cant race as much due to only being able to boost 6psi

this is my reason for wanting the tuner so bad. until i go forged and get a new clutch, i just want to be able to boost 8psi no matter where i live or if 93 or 91 is available. im picky like that.

so when you talk about the MAP and MAF in your last paragraph are you saying that with the tuner the elevation will not make a difference? so that problem is a complete non-issue? if so cool, if not please explain a bit more.

are there any pics in these million replies of the setup and where it plugs in and all that good s***?

EDIT: the puerto rican pretty much answered my first question (flash)

The maps will save into your MPI folder... mine is in the C drive. You go into file and then load map, and your desired map is then loaded. I only have 91 octane fuel here, and I have been tuning fine using it.

I run my car at 5500ft most of the time here at school, and then go up to 7200ft when I visit my mom. I haven't noticed any ill effects using the maf.

I have some pics in a couple of other threads and on my cardomain page. "MPI tuner up and running" in this section, and "MSP getting some more upgrades" in the MSP section.

thanks. thats what i like to hear about the fuel and the altitude. now i just need to conquer the emissions sticker and do some shady s*** to get my car inspected when i move to AZ and then to CA for a year. i found out ill have to get emissions tested to get a sticker to get on post there. here you dont.

I think you will be fine using the MPI for emissions testing. You can just set all of the variables to zero, and it will perform basically like stock.

Actally depending on what your states' emissions standards..

you should be able to pass emissions..using the mpi tuner

Little Beavis..passed and he is only running 1 high flow cat..

While I do have only 1 high flow cat. . .I don't have emission testing in my area (just outside the "Chicago area" for that).

You're thinking of Big Timm I believe.
