MPI Tuner Anyone?

Chas, i believe you are the only one running the mpi tuner with just the stock injectors. correct???
yeap..and i am going to install the inline fuel pump..so this way now worries..when i go for larger/extra injector!

why would you chose larger injectors with the MPI tuner??? when the extra injectors seem to work fine? Also is a pump necessary, since you are at stock fuel pressure still???

Not sure..but figured would be kewl to try it out..i was talking to nick..and he tells me i would be better of with extra injectors..(dunno)

yeah i am at sock fuel pressure..should have the inline installed by next week!

Alright, I have tried to post this like 3 times and it keeps kicking it off. I was hoping someone could post a sticky or update the first page of this thread with the specs of what this unit can do, as well as the prices. I have searched the many pages, and never found the pricing. Also, what are the upgrades and options for controlling extra injectors and whatnot? Please let me know. I have been looking for my new engine management for weeks now, but I can't figure out who is ready to make these things work properly, and I can never get prices from anyone. Thanks! Nic (with no k)

The base unit will give you complete control of both timing and fuel. You will be able to keep your afr spot on in both open and closed loop. The base set up on your car is good for upto 8-9psi. If you are going to run alot more boost you will need our extra injector setup. It maybe one or two injectors, it will depend on how much boost your are planning to run.

The price on the MPI Tuner and Turbo Module is $795.00. Please let me know if you have any questions at all.

Thanks again

Is this something that i could have someone of little MAZDA intelligence install? I wouldnt dare try it myself and their is no way im gonna make a second trip to the east coast for an install lol. Im very very interested but remember your talkin foriegn language with me. (smash)

It's not something that requirs knowledge of mazda...It only requires knowledge of soldering..(spin)

PM me your e-mail address and I will send you the installation sheets. You can then make the choice if it is something you can do.

Thanks again

Soon I will have pics of my install... and videos or pictures of some stuff like:

Dyno stuff (stock N/A vs. FMU turbo vs. MPI no tunning vs. MPI tunned)
Street boosting
Race Track

At least thats my plan, so I hope I can achieve this.

The car as of today has lost some compression (125~140psi), the piston crown shows extreme heat exposure (running lean), will be fabricating a new downpipe, wastepipe, turbo is being fixed, so hopefully, by the end of this month the MPI will be installed.

I dont expect high HP numbers but thats because of my compression loss.

Good s***!(guitar)

I had problems with the fmu i had on my ride..some times it would make me run rich..sometimes lean...every time i adjusted it..i was either runnin lean partial throttle & rich at WOT or runnin rich at partial throttle and runnin lean in WOT!

Glad i got the mpi!

Good luck with the compression problem!(drinks)

That's what I'm going thru now. That's why I can't freaking wait to get some control before I **** my motor. Forged doesn't equal invincible!

Ok, today my Flyin' Protege voltage clamp failed, and I need a solution that I can set up farily quickly. **** spending $100 more for a new voltage clamp only to not use it anymore soon. The PRS8 is great and all, and I could do it, but I just don't have the time anymore. It would be to time consuming to set it up from scratch with scratch maps, and and all the uncertanty of never ever haveing one of these running in the Protege.

I think my voltage clam failed or is failing as well. Recently i had to keep dumping fuel around 2500-4500rpms. i though the ECU was pulling fuel, but everything is fine above 4500. I wonder what is failing? It seems the switch isnt more than a boost switch, and some resisitors. It might be as simple as throwing some new resistor in line of the o2 sensor that the switch cuts.

I would agree about the circuitry of the voltage clamp. Looks simple enough, but I want something better really soon. The newer MPI Tunners have the turbo module with the voltage clamp built in.

Yeah but I think the MPI clamp is full time, not triggered and it also clamps the CTS.

A fast solution is to disconect the AIT and/or the coolant sensor. This way it will run very pig rich, or...do not boost in low rpms.

I will be selling my flyin Protege Clamp..I will have it off this weekend..if you need it!

Chas

Depends on money. I only have like $100 in my checking account till next Friday. Times are rough man. I have a feeling I may not need it, but I'll keep you in mind.

Ok, I don't have time to look back thru the whole thread right now, but can the MPI Tunner drive injectors directly? I have a feeling they can.
