Have 1200 miles on my Mazda 2 in 2-1/2 weeks now. Have been seeing 36.5 at 60% Highway / 40% city & 33.5 when mostly city driving. Looking forward to a bit of a roadtrip to see what I get on pure highway driving.
4 fillups 39.5mpg 1st tank, 35 2nd , 33 3rd, 34.8 4th
I managed 34.8mpg driving like an ABSOLUTE retard, and that also involves me running the car for AC on my lunch brakes. This data tells me I should be able to hit the 40 mark if I drive like my dad and not use it as a breakroom.
I'm greately dissapointed in my car's fuel milage. Had it for 3 weeks, over 2000km, and the best I'm getting is 7.5L/100km (31-32mpg). I'm doing mixed driving, maybe 60% hwy. I always shift at 3,500-4,000 rpm, and upshift whenever cruising for lower rpms. I've gotten great mileage out of my old Mazda6 this way.
The only variable I can think of is my roof rack w/bike mounts, but I can't imagine it having such a huge impact.
Can this be a matter of the engine breaking in? Or is something really wrong?
Mine's been steadily going up since I bought the car about a month and a half ago. Last tank was 38.4MPG, previous was about 36MPG. Just changed the oil with synthetic so we'll see if that makes a difference at all.
42.6 on my 25 mile commute this morning.
