MP5T Rebuild Photo Journal

The motor is balanced and built for 8500 RPM with the Rev Limit removed. However, I'm shifting between 6500 and 7000 with the shift light coming on at 6500... I'll save the silly pull of high RPM for 15 Psi on a "Track Day" or Dyno...

How did you remove the rev limit ?

Mazda Flashed the ECU for top speed and rev limit.

I'll give it to you when I get My Elemental installed...

In theory anything is possible... what I can tell you though is I have seen a number of sets of our cams and the variation is insane in the quality of the castings. I had one cam that had less than 4,000 miles on it in a stock vehicle that had stress cracked 50% of the way through the cam. It then snapped on the motor while it was being checked. (good thing there and not while running!). The casting differences are massive.. if you tookt he time to polish and debur and magnaflux the camshafts all the way, and then routinely kept the clearances checked, and also make sure you have strong enough valves... I do believe the valvetrain can handle that kind of duty... however, valve float may start to occur, and there could be concerns with the springs as well... additionally, there has been some concerned raised, but without evidence to date, that the main caps may start to have issues holding the crank in place at those revs... so... in theory it is ok, but to put into practice safely it may take some doings... but Brian will be one of the first and we'll see how it does!

Nice little system! Pretty penny I'm sure?

It's less than I thought and alot less than AEM.

It uses a MAP so there are no problems with Big 3.5 Bar Mass Air sensors and the data logger is double the sample rate of the AEM.

My estimate was $2000.00 CDN Wired/Pinned/Tuned...

so theoritically, the valvetrain in our cars is good for 8500 rpm if the rev limiter was removed?

The Crank support plate was reinforced and the entire engine was alignhoned and balanced with the clutch and flywheel attached. The only thing that could throw it off would be the tranny which was not balanced, howeverm I'm not thinking that it will prove to be a problem.

More Putts per Minute = More Horsepower per CI..

If you'll dish on the reinforcements that'd be cool... but no worries if that's a "trade secret" too ;).

not a bad cost for the system... roughly 1600 american then.... Lots of bells and whistles... the installation and how it does with our sensors and the like will be interesting too.

i wouldnt go passed 7k if the top and bottom end are stock.

id be quite scared to even go to 7k. :o

Ebiach sells valve springs for our cars on corksports website

Also AWR has cams avaialble too...im not sure if its stock profile or a more agressive one.

I have a Bud with a Subaru RS WRX who is running it and I was talking with the Installer. It's totally compatible and the fact that it runs on a MPA is very desireable..

Agreed but I was there for the full balance and it ran true right past 14,000 RPM on the balancer... I'm not worried, they did have to remove alot of crank material so for all those who are swapping rods without the balance, be warned, it should be balanced.

Brain I would just like to comend you on such a tremendous job you have done, anyone intrested in building a car that is performance oriented should take a few mintues and and look over what you have done and pay attention to the outstanding attention to detial you have done to make this car next to flawless...Your car is really a breed apart

You really think you'll be making power above 6.5k? I think a set of cams would be necessary to make power up there.

Does it use the TPS signal along with the MAP?

dyno that shizzle.

i was making power passed 8,700rpm, i was making power up to 9,000rpm... but the cutoff was put at 8,700rpm since my bottom end is stock....oh wait, i have a honda.

:P
