what's the difference with the current AWR radiator upgrade and the new prototype?
This radiator is a Triple Pass Rad...

If you like later I'll explain when I got some more time...

is the triple pass prototype Ron Davis made also?

and the mani and valve cover polishing looks good.

n00b question: what is a tripple pass radiator and what are advantages/dissadvantages?

don't those take ALOT more pressure to flow the coolant though, to cover the same volume i mean...that would be a disadvantage i guess..

if im right in this, triple pass is where the fluid has to go through 3 stages of cooling(sord-of), like lets say through 3 internal walls so it goes up-down-sideways or something, creating lower temps... am i close?

Not My Pic, I'll post mine when I get them from MAM!
I thought that hand looked familiar! ;)
Pic is beautiful, huh, I love the reflection...dang I'm good.

Yes, rather than one big rad core the coolant is forced to pass down 1/3rd of the core, up the middle 1/3rd and then down the last 1/3rd to the outlet. Normally a radiator is much hotter in the middle between the two connections and the sides are rather "UNUSED".

Path of least resistance would let the hot coolant flow directly as possible, This rad forces the coolant to travel the entire surface area of the radiator, plus the radiators design is much more effecient. The end result is much more consistent temperature, much better ability to remove excess heat from the coolant and yes a slightly higher pressure rating to allow the temp to get higher without boiling.

Sorry man, It's just up there till I get mine!

So would the extra pressure needed to cycle the fluid cause any issues with the stock pump?

No, If you wanted to think about it this way... The hose that goes both in and out of the Rad is only one and a half inches on the inside diameter. It gets dumped into a rad that is still able to handle that volume because the channels inside the rad are much larger than the stock one. The coolant does travel faster through the rad, but at equal or less resistance.

Added bouns to the rad is that it increases the amount of coolant in the system by 1L, more liquid to cool the engine flowing!

Right on, that sounds cool. Good thing I havn't bought my radiator yet. I may have to look into this one when the time comes.

As I said, It's the Protype, so I think it might be dificult to get one similar quickly. Tony (AWR) had said that originally, he had designed three Radiators for the P5. The First two sold well and the third was complete overkill for most people. He never sold the third one. He offered it to me for a steal when I asked about sponsorship... The other rad that he offers for the P5 is supposed to be the BOMB and probably more than anyone would ever need as an upgrade. It was going to go on my car untill he mentioned the triple pass. How could you say no to a one of a kind rad like that for that price!

yea agreed, the stock pump will be fine, but usually for people who upgrade their water pumps to get better temps, and then get a radiator like this, just wasted money :D...good luck brian, sounds like a nice radiator...
