MP5 intake questions

I was looking under the hood the other day and it seemed as if the MAF and throttle body were smaller than those found on my old 96 Miata. Has anyone taken measurements on these 2 things? I know in the 1.6L Miatas you can take the MAF from a Gen2 RX-7 (which is bigger) and see some pretty decent gains this way. I would look into it but time is laking for me this week and probably won't really get to tear into the car until next weekend. Has anyone looked at this???????????

I haven't. But I did take apart the air intake assembly. weird...I am going to make my own box and stick a K&N on it.

the RX-7 MAF trick is something that you can do with the 1st and 2nd gen Proteges but not the 3rd the 3rd uses a different voltage reading than the RX-7 MAF and would probably cause detrimental harm to your motor if you were to rig it on there.

Well I figured the RX-7 would be a bad idea since it is a barn door type and the MP5's are a hotwire. But I was considering trying out a 96+ Miata MAF, but I am not quite sure about it yet. The Miata seemed to be larger, but i won't be able to tell for sure until i get my hands on one. Then I have to find out the voltages etc...
