MP3s on CD

Being a new Speed3 GT owner, I am still trying to figure out a few things with the car. My current confusion relates to the audio system. It is the Bose 6-CD 7 speaker system which when I read the owners manual, appears to have two different models. However, the dealership option list only shows one. I am trying to determine if I can play CDs with MP3s, according to the owners manual, the radio should have the lettering 'MP3' above the mulit-cd icon which mine does not have. If there are truly two different versions of the radio, why doesn't the option show up on the dealer list? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are correct in everything you have said. For whatever reason, the mp3 head unit is not an option for the mazdaspeed 3.

You have a few options.

1) Purchase the MP3 cd-player for the Mazda 3. It costs something around $500. Plug and play operation.

2) Purchase an after market head unit with MP3 capability. This will end up destroying the look of your interior. I don't recommend it.

3) Buy an iPod and iPod integration unit. This would probably prove to be the best option. Full mp3 capability.. + portable.

4) Burn a lot of CD's. 6 Disks is quite a bit of music...

EDIT: 5) Purchase the MP3 head unit for the Mazda 3, from someone who has purchased an aftermarket head unit. This might prove to be quite cost effective...

Thanks for the info Abaddon. With all the features the car has, it blows me away they neglected something as easy as mp3 capability.

Exactly; and lets be fair.. if the price of the vehicle was raised by $500... would any of us really complained???
