MP3 / Mazdaspeed Protege Conversion Guide

Yeah but your front bumper doesnt look like the real 2003 Mazda speeds the bottom doesnt stick out as much as my pic thingy in the upper left!

this is the post where you made yourself look dumber than i'm sure you are.

the picture in your "pic thingy in the upper left" is an 03.5 as has been discussed. his bumper was the 03/mp3. its the same bumper, but the 03.5 has a lip that goes into the fog light holes and changes the look of the bumper. underneath its all the same. its all pink in the middle.

ugh. im done arguing. hopefully you understand now. we're just trying to help your conversion to go smoothly and get you edumacated.

Hey guys, how about part numbers for a couple of underhood items?

1. The black plastic Mazdaspeed engine cover (I believe it also says "DOHC 16 valve")

2. The "Mazdaspeed" exhaust manifold heat shield

Thanks for your help!

I dont see the side skirts on mazdastuff.com anymore where else can you get them or is the dealer price reasonable??

Side sill kit(pair)--B30K-V4-910F--MSRP--$200.00+paint

in the original list.

I been wondering about that 3.5 spoiler does it bolt right to the holes for the es spoiler or did you not have a spoiler at all before?

I carry all the parts required to do the mazdaspeed conversion to a 3rd gen protege. I just shipped out a complete kit to Missouri last week. I can get any or all of the parts needed for the job. Shoot me a PM.

I also promise to match or beat Mazdastuff on thier prices.

how much does mazda charge for a msp gauge cluster (im sure its WAY too much, but just wondering.

after 2001 mazda services the cluster in seperate pieces, meaning you have to buy the circuit board, gauges, glass, etc all seperate. :(

Will a 2005 P5 bumper reinforcement bar work for this conversion on a 2001 protege?

Part number is BL8D 50 071

Regular conversion kit lists this part as BN7H-50-070A but I believe that is on pre 2005 p5/mp3/speed bumpers. Didn't know if this is a suttle change or if the fogs have moved so much that it would just be easier to modify/cut my sedan bumper.

the spoiler, is it the one with the third leg in the middle or the other one?

k, so i have an mp3 spoiler for my sedan, do I have to drill 2 extra holes in for where the center pillar sits, so i can get the brake light working?

if you have a spoiler already, its not a direct bolt up, so new holes will need drilled anyway....

the P5 reinforcement is the same as the msp/mp3 it will work.

2005? i don't think they change much from the 2001's...
