Well that is 100% NOT true. What is true is that is it among the top 3 BEST handling. It might even be second but deff not the first. The BEST handling sports compact car is the Subara WRX hands down. Nothing can beat an AWD rally. The only car that is in the MP3s class is the Sentra V-spec.

Look it up, the mp3 kicks the WRX's @ss in the slalom. Only the lancer Evo VII/VIII is better.

I dont know what you guys are talking about... I have smoked sentras, integras, SI, ex, lx, saturns, accords... trust me its the way you drive your car and how you shift. i even took out a a corvette once ...but we were in traffic i have to admitt the mp3s handle pretty good. All i have is a injen cai w/ this wierd filter that sounds like bov pretty nice trick people get scared..
and also my cousin is a mechanic and he said not every car has the same whp some are fster and some are slower.
I have also smoked 2 mp3s they couldnt believe it

Yeesh, let someone else get a word in Kooldino! I'd have to say that stock vs stock on a tight auto-X course the MP3 will win. If it's more opened with straightaways then it goes to the WRX. This isn't a dissing of the WRX at all...but the rubber it comes with stock isn't the best and it's more at home on dirt than cement right outta the box.

I think what hurts the P5's & MP3's 0-60 time is the short 1st gear. It allows the car to get off the line well but it also forces you to shift to 2nd gear way too early. And it's a long throw from 1st to 2nd gear. What these cars need is a 6-speed that spreads the gearing out more evenely so the gap between 1st & 2nd is small. That alone would probably cut the 0-60 mph time by almost a second.

Another thing you need to consider is the transmission on those other cars. Most of those corolla's & Civics have automatics. And that adds a full second to their 0-60 runs.

If you want to win drag races at your nearest intersection, try having a good holeshot. That alone is enough to get you ahead and keep you ahead of most small cars, SUV's & pickups unless they're really flooring their automatics.

I just want to know where these dudes{motortrend) got these performance #s? my mp3 was slow in the1/4 stock not that slow!
oh yeah as far as the wrx debate gos,the mp3 stock is way better than a wrx stock, a wrx with coil overs and tuning really close call!

Every magazinr that tested both MP3 ind WRX gave the handling award to the MP3. ALso don't forget SCC said it replaced the integra type are as the benchmark of handling for sport compact cars. Road and track and car and driver both gave the MP3 higher handling scores in the slolem lane change and G's over the WRX.

Also the 115 hp civic does the 0-60 in 9 seconds not 8, thats in car and driver.

there is no debate the mp3 has awesome handling in slaloms, but in all honesty, when do we ever just drive in slaloms?....not even autox events have just slaloms.
