Motor mounts

"1.8L has the same front, left and rear mounts as the 1.6L "
This means that everything that will fit the 1.8 or 2.0 will fit the 1.6 with respect to the front left and rear mounts. SO you can buy the awr fromt and rear mounts. And even the transmount insert.

The only diffrent mount is the right. But no one makes a mount for it so it doesnt matter. Im gonna need clarification on that one but I went out and bought a solid rubber mount from advance no vibration + nicer then stock.
good call on this one. I have a set of the motor mounts I can sell to someone. if interested. let me know.

I didn't want to start a new thread on this topic... so good opportunity to chime in. My engine/powertain is shaking slightly and is being transmitted to the passenger compartment via the wheel and body. I guess time to check mounts. Which one's are the culprits? What's the easiest way to replace them -- go with OEM or aftermarket? I want the smoothest, quietest engine and max. noise/vibration dampening. Thanks people.

Stick with stock. Youll know if there torn just by looking at them. There kind of expensive, but will have the least noise and vibration. Torn mounts would transfter more vibration but im betting its the fuel.

So run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. When I did that, sea foam, and filled up on regular gas the car was amazingly quiet. LIke I couldn't tell it was turned on.

Thanks for the rep playa

Thanks Zero. Without going off-topic too much, I did FI bottle, EGR, plugs and I need to SeaFoam spray my TB. Hopefully that 'll settle her. The mounts don't look too bad after 67K miles. I'll check 'em more closely this weekend.

how much is a stock replacement pass. side side motor mount? Does anyone know. Mine is torn, I was putting in my AWR side inserts and noticed my pass side is all torn, completely. I've been thinking it was, I was getting horrible pulsing when decelerating.

dealer quoted me at 127 bucks for the side pass. motor mount.

Ask Ken (Captain KRM 5) he'll get you an incredible deal on it!!! (thumb)

What do you mean torn? Got any pics? I thought mine was torn when I got the car....took it to the dealer and they said its fine

OH, I can seperate the inside of the rubber.....the sleeve that the post goes through, well, that comes out all on it's own.... Oh it's torn. I was putting in my AWR side inserts and oh to my surprise the mount was torn. I didn't take pics, but when I finally replace it, I will then.

yea lol that mount of yours went to s***. Hope you'll get a new one shortly! Definetly contact Ken for that !

our mounts are supposed to have some gap in them, and not be solid righ??? sometimes it can be bad idle instead.

so i can go ahead and order a front mount(which is most important right?) designed for the 1.8l for my 1.6l?

how does the inserts work?

I just installed my new sls performance front motor mount, and to my suprise my stock front mount was ripped up upon removal. I had went from explaing to my dad how this new mount would help to both of us being glad I decided to swap them out because of it being broke. My side mounts are shot as well, am I better off just getting inserts or getting a whole new mount? The old mount has to be completly removed either way right?

My front rubber is completly torn and rear starting to. Can anyone confirm FOR SURE that the AWR rear mount does fit the 1.8? Stock is a different part number and the picture seems to show an offset hole(stock) where mine is centered, otherwise they look the same.

For those with side inserts, you can use large washers to hold the inserts in place. Works well. There is a thread somewhere showing how.

been running the front and rear for over 2 years. got the highest (95?) durometer, the ones for the stick shifts

now that the sides have become available, i am going to do those next, but the last thing i bought for this car was gas and oil pretty much, and some cams about 9 months ago.

hopefully those can be in this fall when i return from working overseas during the summer. (and have extra cash to spend on the protege!)
