Motor Mount Inserts?

That doesn't seem right. The only mount that's different on the MSP is the #3 mount; the other three are shared by all Proteges.

Just checked. The rear mount is the #1 mount, the front mount is the #2 and the passenger side mount is #3. These inserts should work with any 2.0 FS engine.

How does the rear (firewall mount, aka AWR's rear mount) insert install? I'd like some details on that...

how much of a benefit is there to doing this? Is the vibration bad at all, bareable or what. How long is the break in period. Arew they cunts in cold(meaning they get harder and vibrate more) etc. I've been thinking about doing this, just not sure. Also, how hard are they to install, I hear the front is not so bad, but the back is a b****. How long do you think it would take if I took the lazy way out and paid a shop to do it? I would say it shouldn't take too long right? I'm just asking this, cause I don't really wanna install them myself, kinda lazy, and have a lack of tools, knowledge, patiences etc. So give me a rough estimate on the time it would take a pro shop to install these. One that knows the MSP's engine bay very well BTW.

Too bad energy suspension doesn't make them for our cars, i used to have them on the rsx-s they were great.

We are going to be offering mounts... but right now I'm working on acquiring cores... so if you know anyone that has extra left and right mounts for the car let me know as I need them. I have the rear mount coming, and I still need to find a front mount. Once I have those I can start making mounts. But we are going to offer a solution as well.

just a heads up I bought the rr inserts for my MSP and the lips were way too fat to get teh mount back in the sleeve. I had to shave the outer walls about 1/4 inch with a pocket knife to get the motor mount to fit back on the car. about 45 minutes wasted... other than that it's been working out great. not too harsh at idle and not too soft.

Bringing an old thread back to life.

Dimitrios and I checked out the R&R inserts I bought using an extra pair of stock front and rear motor mounts that I happen to have. These inserts slipped into the mounts like a glove!!

So I guess I'm just kinda wondering what you had to trim to make these fit properly?

I'd still like more info on how the rear inserts are....um..inserted.

I'm assuming you'd still have to get the engine bracket to back off and pretty much end up with just as much work to get the inserts as you would for the AWR full mount.

yeah they are the way to go with Sentras as well.

the inserts for the Spec are simply to take off the mounts and the inserts slide right in. slide the bolt back through and torque everything down. freekwonder and I did mine in less than an hour (though I know the Protege rear mount is wicked hard).

if people are worried about the vibration you really shouldn't be unless you are really finicky about your car making vibrations at low idle. anytime my car is in a gear I don't notice anything at all. only when I park the car and have it sit for a minute do I even notice they're in (except for uner heavy acceleration when they are noticeable because they're amazing at reducing wheel hop :D ). any urethane mount should get softer over time so you really will break them in because the material gets softer as a natural progression.

if you are truly concerned about the vibration or don't want to pay a ton of money for this then look into the 3M Window Weld. the only downside is that its fairly permanent so keep that in mind...

any info on this point?

A cheap alternative is to get Mazda to change the engine mount insert on warranty! I had the RR-Racing inserts and when I brought the car for maintenance and other stuff I asked them to put them on. I prolly didn't explain it well enough cuz they changed the OEM inserts with some other kind. But they are a lot stiffer! Works nicely, the only drawback is that I will not be able to install the RR-Racing inserts cuz they no longer fit (I had a mechanic to try but they really did not fit at all). The new ones Mazda put in are quite different but they do the job, no more bunny jumps, not even on wet pavement!
