Monster Miata

A miata is already rwd which makes it alot easier to put in v8. I can't imagine what it would feel like to have 400-500hp in a miata though. With such a short wheelbase you would think it would just want to doughnuts all day long.

suppringly, they take it very well, with a good limited slip diff, u can take out lambos with one..

oh no doubt, the power to weight ratio would be insane. I'm just wondering if it would actually want to go or if it would want to sit and spin.

id gladly take 60lbs in return for 100hp and god knows how many lb ft stock

i talked to a guy who has a 302 stock in his, 1st gear is impossible to launch from, he said he gets a better lauch from 2nd gear., but auto crossing he beats alot of high end cars.. he spent about 10k including cost of car... and was beeting cars worth 50k plus on the autox track

yeah, for someone who doenst own a miata YET... i have done alot of research on the engine swaps for this car..

I thought that both motors with transmission, intercooler and piping (for the 13b) the LS1 was lighter.

Eh, either way the LS1 is a better motor.

yeah, but can a ls1 redline at 9k rpms.... id take a 13b tt powered mx-5 over a ls1..

In the mid 90s they had this race call the Silver something. Basicly a cannon ball run. There were all kinds of cars, exotics to muscle. They had a 302 miata in it. I don't remember the hp #s on it but I do remember reading it was blowing every one away. It was in 2nd place until they it started running lean and burt the plugs. They droped out at the las section.

Your high reves are nothing. In order for you to get 450-500hp you'd have to do a hell of a lot of work to it. Like the guy said, the reason to do the V8 was for reliability. With just a small upgrade 450 is nothing and it's all done on stock parts. 100k miles out of that block is easy. But you'll never got that out of a 300-500 turbo motor.

you can make any engine hit 9k rpm

not saying it will be good for it.... or that it will live thru it....

but it would have done 9k ;)

this thread is giving me all sorts of ideas lol, damn you all!

there was a miata with an S2000 engine swap. they even installed the cluster with the cool digital tach!
