Internals are just that...the "guts" of the fuel pump.

If you have the tools and the skill to take the actual fuel pump apart and replace the guts of the pump without damaging anything or screwing up the install, you can save yourself some money by not purchasing the actual completed pump (in the same way that you can buy the "guts" of a computer and assemble it much cheaper than buying a pre-assembled computer).

I ordered the PTP pump assembly a couple of days ago...the Hitachi upgrade. Remember the pump is $300, but there is a $350 core charge added to that. They charge you $650 in total, but refund the $350 once you mail them back your old fuel pump. Or you can just get the internals and rebuild your pump yourself. The "maxed out" internals I am clueless about...I have no clue if they work or if anyone has them. They are pretty pricey, though, I know that...which is why I skipped them. I had the original pump fail on me, and the set of aftermarket internals fail on me (that company is out of business now I guess). So this is my second attempt at correcting this issue. I do not, however, have any input as to the PTP unit because I haven't received it yet.

There are a lot of reviews, good and bad, about most of the aftermarket (and OE) pumps available. This seems to be the weakest link for our cars, and it is taking time for companies to fully solve the problem.

I would suggest getting a DashHawk or something to log the fuel pressure (or at least monitor it) because there are other things that can cause what you are talking about. However, if your pump is delivering less than 1650 psi at WOT then it is no good.

oh so its 650 and then they refund u so its really 300...thats coool but yea maybe i should get a dashawk.....and log....il do that...what are some other things i should be looking for on the dashawk like afr n stuff

also i no i need the fuel pump tho cause my friend got similar upgrades as i do and he needed it but he spent the money on the cpe one

I regularly monitor fuel pressure, AFR, and wastegate DC%, along with engine temp. When I datalog I monitor AFR, wastegate DC%, fuel pressure, RPM, and boost. Others look at LTFT, but I do not.

will dashawk give me boost....i want to get gagues but alot of money...seems like i can get just get a dashawk to monitor everything

yes to boost. I am pulling my mechanical boost gauge, now.

Here's how I'd do this car up:

#1. Get a DashHawk

#2. Monitor/datalog with DH to see what your car is up to.

#3. Replace bad stock hi pressure fuel pump

#4. Start modding

I didn't do it this way and I've been chasing my tail for months.

oh believe me.....i am chaising my tail rite now....as soon as i did my exhaust i new something was wrong...im going to get the dashawk to monitor anyway.....but what fuel pump did you use darth...and did it work?

I've just realised in the last week that the fuel pump is the likely source of all my performance issues so, I'm working on which replacement to get right as we speak. DashHawk FTW in wising me up before I blew up.

you think going with the pump is better then kmd internals...this guys has brand new ones hes gona sell to me for 150 with the spring...u think thel hold up for a while at least for now while im gettin fuel cuts

Have you changed your plugs to the step colder? If you are fully bolted you really should...also get the ap...you could be hitting boost cut and with the ap you can do away with that.
