interesting info: http://peswiki.com/index.php/Direct...a_Fuel_Additive

up to 35% increase reported. Acetone said to improve the fuel's ability to vaporize completely by eliminating the surface tension that causes an increase in particulate vaporization temperature. (PESN; March 18, 2005)

and an FAQ: http://peswiki.com/index.php/Direct...ne_Additive:FAQ

basically.. it helps break up the surface tension of gasoline and helps it vaporize easier. Add 1-3 ounces acetone per 10 gallons of gas. So is this all BS or does it really work?

Acetone is also known to eat away rubberized/plastic materials.
Read the links. They did tests and said it was fine. Besides that, they're saying you only need 3 oz per 10 gallons or so.

Nail polish remover is made out of acetone (most of them are, anyway) - so you can get your nail polish off zippy quick and improve your car's MPGs...

I don't see how it cna inprove milage.
The computer is programmed to ope tne injectors for so long and push so much PSI of fuel through them. So you could add anything under the sun but that same amount of fuel will be sent through the injecotr at any given moment. The only thing I could see happening is if the acetone made the 02 sesor read an overly rich mixture so the ECU pulleda little bit of fule but it only will go so low before it thinks theres and issue and throws a cell.

Some one let me know if I am reasoning this all wrong.

what kind of race team gives a s*** about fuel economy?
ever watched any sort of racing on tv? I hear the words "fuel economy" and "mpg" more than "fast" or "crash"

Race treams don't care about fuel economy... I'm almost tempted to give it a try as gaz prices are so high now.... Anyways, it's worth investigating
