mileage

okay, this has been bugging me for a while, but i get real bad gas mileage. the most i have ever gotten out of a full tank of gas was around 250 miles, and that's if i drive like a prude (for some of the time at least). a lot of other people are getting in the 300 mile range, which is pretty damn good.

if i fill the tank up (w/ the light on), i put in between 11-12.5 gallons. by the time i reach the half point, i get between 100 and 140 miles (driving very conservatively).

also, does anyone know how much gas is left in the tank when the light goes on ?

not that much...honsetly, i've been shifting below 4000rpm for most of the time, except for when passing on the freeway, driving over 80 mph, or driving aggressively on some twisties (which is not very often).

i also try to stay out of boost as much as possible (but who the hell can resist ?!?!?)

A little more information on driving style and mods would help. Also, this is kind of obvious, but have you checked your tire pressure lately???

my only mods are a k&n cone filter and 9 psi. i haven't checked in probably 2 months, but all tires were at about 35 last time i checked. you know what, i'll go check right now.

driving style: driving on the street, half the time i go into boost, most now i try stay out of boost. i shift usually between 3k rpm and 3.5k, and drive in 5th gear as much as possible when speeds allow. i visit 6.5k less than three times per week. i drive 70 most of the time on the freeways, 80 at max.

and i just checked my tire pressures, all tires are at a minimum at 32 psi.

i'm at half a tank and i already have 200+ miles on my odometer.

I think there's about two gallons left when the light comes on. AFAIK, that's a pretty standard number. I was getting about the same mileage as you are before I got my mid-pipe, now, I'm getting about 300 miles per tank. I read somewhere that if you keep your gas above 1/4 tank it'll help mileage some because it prevents condensation from forming in your tank (think about rubbing alcohol that sits too long and you'll know what I'm talking about). Maybe call the stealership and see what they suggest. You could try and resetting your ECU and make a point of driving like a grandma for a while.

im stock. most i got was 400miles this past. i had to pay $31 for the last fill up but that was @$2.54/gal at shell for v-power. i also had the orange light on and drove with it on for about 6 miles.

yeah, i think i'm gonna try and reset my ecu. last time i did that was when i was on a mix of 91 and 100 octane and 13 psi, so doing this might help.

i can't stand driving like a grandma...everytime i do, my whole body breaks down and i feel like such a prick to myself. why does boost have to be like crack ?

damn, you are getting good mileage. yeah, i'm paying near the same for a full tank. the most i've ever driven w/ the light on was probably 20 miles.

Boost is so addictive! I think I'm going to start a support group in my area, because I hit 6500rpms at least once a day... It's almost a habit more than a rush now. I've been able to get about 30 miles with the light on, it's been mostly highway miles though.

haha, i used to be like that, until my bank account statement kept reading negative numbers.

you're flashed, right? i remember before i was flashed that my mileage was really really bad. i'd only get 250 miles average from full tank to empty. as of right now i'll average 25-28mpg depending on how hard i drive. my driving habits are very similar to yours so i dont see why you getting such crap mileage.

downpipe? whatcha talkin about? i'm stock.
