Hey all,

I just wanted to pop up a thread for those that Have Microtech's already to put up their thoughts, concerns, praise, complaints etc.

We finally took care of the water temp gauge, so now all gauges, fans, AC, alternator etc all work just fine with the unit installed. We will also be working on full OBDII compliance and hope to have that done this spring. Additionally, we have everything rolling with Microtech as well to have our units in full 32x32 data point maps, and many other features you aren't going to find on any other unit for 1000 bucks. So let us know what we can do better... it's these things that came out of the feedback we've gotten from you guys.

Later!

well i'm certainly happy with my MT. tunability is so so simple. my own tune done with a wideband and on the road tune dropped my 1/4 mile from 15.260 to a 14.860 and the only change was the MT install. so yeah, i'm quite happy with the improvements, esp being NA.

steve's input has been phenomenal as well. his help has been invaluable and made the whole process hundreds of times easier

i would highly recommend the MT units to anyone wanting to get the most out of their car

on a side note - i cant wait for the new software and what it hopefully holds ;)

I was wondering how it would do on a N/A car. Glad to see it makes a difference.

I like the way my Microtech runs in my RX-7. Easy setup and menus. Although I still haven't tried to tune it myself, I'm satisfied. Steve, do you have the new handbook out yet?

Are they releasing a new version of the software?

Wow i think from reading these few posts the microtech might be the standalone ecu i'm going to get in the future.

I do have a new version of the install handbook done, but not a new handbook for tuning yet.. I'm not sure which you are after..

Yep they are releasing a new software version in a few weeks, and they are releasing a new flash for the units in a month or two... unfortunately what we thought was going to be in the software and a simple download was moved to the flash and requires a sending in of the unit... so... minor bummer there though..

The unit is crap!!! Hahaha! J/K! Sorry I haven't been much help here with reviews and all but my car has gone through another transition so I will be back up and running in a week or so and will start hardcore tuning for some serious power. Gotta catch up to my RX7. It's funny when I can honestly tell people that my STi is the slowest car I own!!! Hehehe!

I was referring to the tuning guide. So in order to get the software update, you have to flash the ecu huh, any idea on how much that costs and where to do it?

bugger on the flash :(

Cheap easy and quick for you.. you'd only be out your unit for a couple of days... so not a BIG deal, but bummer that isn't as simple as just downloading the new software off the net.

Well depends on what you are talking about and what unit you have. There is a new flash coming soon that gives user adjustable data points and makes the units into 32x32 resolution units.... also adds some other features from my understanding... so that is one thing... but there is new front end software coming that also adds some features including save to hard disk so you can have more maps and email them back and forth... so that is all coming..

I don't know on the reflash info yet.. but it usualy about a 1.5 week turnaround from the states, and the cost is around 250 or less I believe... I have to check further... so not a huge cost.. but a lot of that ends up being shipping etc... so.. hopefully that helps.

I will work on that tuning doc amidst my web updates this week before I dive heavy into our other projects... so I'll see what I can do for you!

yeah i'm lucky i'm so close to MT for the flash. the 32x32 will rock!

Not only that, but finally being able to save your maps and compare them. I was wondering when MT was gonna release an update, the one I'm using seems a little outdated. I also hope the software is more user friendly.

Would also be cool to have an auto-tune function :p

I don't know if they'll ever do auto-tune or not... maybe.. maybe not.. but auto-tune isn't all that it's cracked up to be a lot of the time either... a lot of units can't hold the ratios very tight, or it slows down calculations etc.. it's not always a "good" thing... and with how tight the EMS's already hold the AFR's even without closed loop it is somewhat un-necessary... but yeah that is about the only thing missing from these EMS's... but for a grand I don't think people expect that to be there!

Hey sorry steve that this took so long but here we go:

This install was super easy. I even went the extra mile and got some gm weatherpack connectors so to go back to stock I must only get under the hood and swith plugs between each wiring harness. I must only make an exception to that with the crank angle sensor. I have a great map now and understand the underpinnings of the unit. I must now only work on the drivability in cold weather and warm up. My only problem with the whole project was that only the most essential wires were mentioned in the install printed out by NSN. Not mentioned in the whole manual(NSN not the MT) was the vaccuum sensor which is just as essential as any injector wire. Another wire is the aux input for the A/C. I will already admit fault with these wires here. I just wished that there was at least some mentioning of them in the NSN manual so I could have made a point to read up on those sections instead of having to repull these leads. NSN needs to sell this to this target audience and be very explicit in the instructions they provide so as to not cause irritations like this in the future. I also haven't recieved my fix yet for my coolant gauge in the cockpit. Other than this Steve was great on the phone and very patient. He explained things very well and this is a great product for the forum. Thanks Steve and the rest of NSN

Andrew

I'll definitely get that updated in the manual then for the "extra" wires that are in the harness... and I didn't realize I had forgotten you on the coolant fix!! I'll get that out to you early next week. Sorry about that!

Your maps are doing alright for you and things are working? Let me know if I can help out on any of it though, happy to give a call whenever!
